The Belarusian State Academic Musical Theater was opened over 40 years ago. Today in his repertoire a rich variety of genres, there are even performances for children.
About the theater
The Belarusian State Academic Musical Theater opened in 1970. His first performance was the work "The Lark Sings". The premiere took place in January 1971. Initially, the theater was called the musical comedy of Belarus.
In 1981, his own building was built for him, in which he "lives" to this day.
For more than forty years of its existence, the theater has released more than a hundred productions of various musical genres. Many of them are already considered a gold fund.
At the end of the 20th century, the repertoire of the theater expanded significantly. In addition to musical comedies of the Soviet period, ballets and classical operettas, it included performances of modern fashionable genres, such as, for example, a musical, as well as concerts. In this regard, the staff expanded.
The Belarusian State Academic Musical Theater today is, first of all, professional artists, among whom there are both masters of stage art and talented young cadres. The troupe is able to successfully solve even the most complex tasks of a creative nature. Many artists have titles and are winners of prizes, competitions and festivals.
Today, the theater is one of the most popular not only in the city, but throughout Belarus. He has a very high reputation. Over the year, this Temple of Art is visited by more than 250 thousand spectators. In addition to performances, the theater implements a number of different projects. Artists take part in events of city, district and republican significance. Orphans, large families, veterans, disabled people, the elderly are given the opportunity to attend performances and concert programs on a preferential or even free basis.
One of the very significant and high-profile events was the premiere of the musical "Sofia Golshanskaya". This production immediately became a favorite among the audience. With her, the theater went on tour in many cities of Belarus, as well as Russia. The premiere of the musical took place in the open. It happened at the walls of the Golshany castle, which belonged to the Sapieha magnate family, where the main character of the play lived. The production was highly appreciated by the audience and critics.
In 2000, the theater was awarded the title "Honored Collective of the Republic of Belarus". And 9 years after this event, he became known as academic. In the same year, its renaming took place. Now it is the Belarusian State Academic Musical Theater. The ticket office is open from 9:00 in the morning until 20:00 in the evening. It is located in the theater building. But tickets can be purchased not only at the box office, but also through the theater’s official website. Children under 3 years old can enter the room for free.
Every year, the Musical Theater organizes a competition among playwrights, composers, and directors. Its purpose is to create unique, original performances that will be included in the repertoire.
Since 2010, the theater has been actively touring. The troupe travels to different cities of Belarus, the CIS countries and often happens abroad.
