Shemaya fish - imperial fish

Fish description

Being a schooling, fish prefers oxygen-rich and clean ponds. In Iran, for its delicate taste it is called shah-mage (royal fish).

Shayma fish
Externally, fish, which is a representative of the order of cyprinids, resembles bleak, only with a higher body and orange bases on the pectoral fins. The royal fish feeds on insects, zooplankton and their larvae. Fish fish forms residential and semi-aisle forms that rise in rivers only for spawning. The permanent residence of this fish is the tributaries of the Azov and Black and Caspian Seas.

Before the revolution, it was bred in lakes and ponds on landowners on the banks of the Dnieper, and in the fifties of the twentieth century several hatcheries were opened in the Kuban basin, which began to develop the production of ecological offspring of the shah-mage. The average weight of a shemai is two hundred grams, but seven hundred grams are also found. In our country, the stocks of this king fish have significantly decreased. The reason for this was her uncontrolled catch, which was carried out earlier, and without any established norms. Currently, this species of fish is successfully acclimatized in some closed reservoirs of the Stavropol Territory.

Sewn fish
In the fish farms of the Kuban and Don, young fish of this fish is also bred. In addition, actions are being taken to protect and increase its reserves in all other habitats.

Breeding

Shemaya fish spawns in late autumn. In females, the lower jaw increases , and in males spikes form on the head, which then disappear. The peculiarity of this fish is that it interrupts its spawning due to turbid water and waits until it is clarified. The Shemai’s approach to the spawning ground usually begins after dusk. It continues until midnight. And back producers roll down at sunrise. To spawn, each female is accompanied by several males. Caviar, covered with sticky mucus and firmly growing to stones, the fish tosses in portions until the end of June. Fry hatching already on the eleventh day, carefully hide in dark secluded places: in crevices, under stones. In the lower reaches, juveniles slide late enough, moving slowly until early spring.

Catching shemai
Most individuals spawn only up to three times throughout their lives. Only a small number of them - up to five times. In some regions, the shemai’s path to natural places for laying eggs is blocked by human activities: in many rivers, due to the presence of hydroelectric stations, there has been a sharp and significant decline in its population. However, not only a reduction in the area for spawning affects natural reproduction: it is adversely affected by water pollution and tangible changes in river levels.

Shemai fishing is mainly in the early spring months. One of the prerequisites for successful fishing is the wind. Bait and bait are used to hold this fish. Best for this is clam meat, minced through a meat grinder. Attachments used for sewing are fish (small), earthworms, bloodworms, nereis and maggot. There are many fishing methods, including fishing with a fishing rod from a boat. Lightweight long rods are suitable as accessories.

Fried fish
No less exciting and spring fishing in the wiring, during which maggot is the best bait. To hunt for large individuals Shemi, the bait is thrown away from the coast, since this fish is quite careful, it is practically not tempted by baits near the coast.
