The Ural-5323 off-road truck has an individual wheel formula - 8 x 8 x 4. It is assembled at an automobile plant located in the city of Miass, in the Urals. It is widely used in the Russian Armed Forces, and also used by specialized services.
History of model creation
In the Soviet Union, much attention was paid to equipment designed to increase the strength and power of their own army. The Miass Automobile Plant has long been involved in the development and production of multi-purpose off-road vehicles that could withstand American all-terrain vehicles. Such conditions were required due to the many years of confrontation between the two great powers - the USSR and the USA.
The first experimental Ural-5323 model was brought to the attention of inspectors from the Central Committee in 1985. The car's carrying capacity was 9 tons; a KamAZ-7403 10 V 8 turbocharged engine was used. Its power was 260 horsepower at 190 kW. A five-speed gearbox and a two-stage razdatka made it universal for movement on the highway and off-road. In addition, the balanced suspension, as well as the adaptive tire inflation system, increased its uniqueness.
The first Ural-5323, the technical characteristics of which, in a sense, have become prototypes for the creation of subsequent modifications, is currently in Ryazan. There he is presented as an exhibit of the museum of military automobile technology. In further production, the models were improved, and not only eight-, but also lightweight six-cylinder engines began to be used for their production. This served as an impetus for the creation of subsequent modernized modifications of the car, created back in the Soviet era.
Specifications
The Ural-5323 car, the technical characteristics of which has changed more than once in the entire history of production, has established itself as a reliable and unpretentious all-terrain all-terrain vehicle. The first models were equipped with engines from Naberezhnye Chelny and the same cabs. After some time, the plant management decides to install the YaMZ-238-B power unit, as well as YaMZ-7601.
In 1995, an imported cab with improved comfort for the driver and passenger of IVECO was installed on the Ural-5323. Many years of practice have shown an advantage over the domestic version and served as a development for the further use of Italian components.
Production difficulties
The Ural-5323 cargo army all-terrain vehicle is a four-axle truck, which first rolled off the assembly line in 1989. From this date, it is customary to consider the beginning of mass production of this model. Despite the fact that she received a positive assessment from military experts, it was not possible to establish a stable serial production of the car. The reason was the difficulty of installation, which was not adapted for the production of the chassis together with the cabin from KamAZ. This influenced the fact that the production of the machine was very slow. In addition, there were constantly problems associated with a lack of engines.
With the beginning of the next decade, the plant plans to begin production of Ural-5323 units with diesel engines from the Kustanai plant. Plans are not destined to translate into reality. This is prevented by the collapse of the Soviet Union.
At the beginning of 1993, the situation at the plant is getting better, car production continues. But everything comes to an end after a fire at a motor plant in Naberezhnye Chelny, which destroyed all the shops. Only by the beginning of next year there is a way out. All-terrain vehicles adapt to the turbocharged eight-cylinder YaMZ engine.
Grand Merger
Due to the fact that in 1994 there was a merger of several grands, a new enterprise appeared, called “Iveco-UralAZ”. It was formed from the following corporations:
- Ural Automobile Plant.
- The Italian company IVECO.
- RAO Gazprom (Russia).
The new enterprise was engaged in the production of automobiles using joint developments in this direction. The first copy that came off the assembly line was the eponymous dump truck, on which an Italian cab was installed. Unfortunately, it was not possible to deliver it to the place where it was planned to carry out the tests. During transportation, the car cabin was damaged.
Modifications
After a failed start, the company was inactive for some time. Only at the beginning of 2000 did it begin the conveyor production of the Ural-5323 automobile. Reviews about it are mostly positive. This is primarily due to the fact that most of the design of the model was already familiar to the consumer by previous modifications. The use of a new comfortable cabin has greatly improved the appearance of the machine and create some convenience inside it.
From this moment, several modifications of cars were released, among which the following can be distinguished:
- Ural-532365. Due to the fact that the cabin was shifted forward and down, there was an increase in operating space under it.
- The Ural-5323-62 chassis, the technical characteristics of which we are considering, allowed the transport of goods weighing more than 16 tons.
- Based on previous models, modifications 632341 with all-wheel drive and 652301 with a load capacity of 18.5 tons were developed.
Military vehicles
Since off-road trucks of this modification were mainly produced for the needs of the army, a whole line of models was created designed for such operation:
- Ural-532303 is the first domestic armored cargo vehicle.
- REM KL - repair and recovery truck.
- "Avalanche-Hurricane" - a water cannon.
- "Shell-C1" is an anti-aircraft gun system.
- TOR M1TA - anti-aircraft missile system.
- MSTA-K - self-propelled howitzer.
- SKO-10K is a station for the purification and preparation of drinking water.
- PP-91 and PP-2005 - cars for the pontoon park, used to create mobile crossings.
