The Oryol Puppet Theater was founded in September 1943, immediately after the liberation of the city from Nazi invaders. The legend was the first performance, which was given by the actors of the newly created theater alone - the fairy tale "By the command of the pike."
Orlovites who devoted themselves to the art of animating dolls on stage were not easy to write. In the post-war years, the theater for a long time had no permanent premises. In winter, the artists huddled in various clubs, and in the summer they traveled to Russian cities, speaking to the public on improvised stages. Only in 1948, the Puppet Theater (Oryol) received its own building and even a shaking car-and-a-half for trips. From that moment, life gradually began to improve.
Over the years, the puppet theater (Oryol) became increasingly stronger on its feet. His poster was full of new performances. The repertoire has expanded significantly. Bright productions with rich musical and lighting design appeared.
In 1994, the theater moved to the Palace of Builders, where it is located today. On the facade of the building hangs a wonderful watch, which is called a separate attraction of the city. Every hour a wonderful melody sounds in them and the heroes of children's fairy tales appear: Puss in Boots, Pinocchio, Malvina and Pierrot. In 2001, on the second floor of the building, through the efforts of the theater artist Zhmakina Lyubov, a magical corner appeared, where children are waiting for their favorite characters: Thumbelina, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, three bears and other characters.
Tours and awards
Throughout the history of its activity, the Puppet Theater (Oryol) received many awards and prizes, became a diploma winner at several festivals. In 1973, the production of "The Golden Horse" was awarded a first degree diploma at the II All-Russian Theater Arts Festival.
Oryol Puppet Theater is often called the "theater on wheels." This is due to his active touring activities. The geography of trips includes not only the Oryol region, but also the cities of Russia in other regions: Murom, Vladimir, St. Petersburg, Belgorod, Voronezh, Bryansk, Smolensk and Tula. The Puppet Theater (Oryol) is known and loved in foreign countries: Belarus, Bulgaria, France and Ukraine.
