Two ways to upgrade your NVIDIA graphics card

Speaking about updating an NVIDIA graphics card, they always mean updating the driver for it. In the article, we will consider how to check and install the new version of the device software. In total, two methods will be presented: using a special program from the manufacturer and through the built-in tools of the Windows operating system.

Method 1: Using GeForce Experience

To upgrade your NVIDIA graphics card, it’s best to use the official software directly from the developers themselves. Most likely, you already have it installed on your computer, if before that you performed the installation of the video chip driver. But if you still don’t find the GeForce Experience, this program can be downloaded from the manufacturer’s official website.

So, to complete the installation of an updated version of the driver, you need to do the following:

  1. Open the system tray. It is located on the right side of the taskbar. The button that opens it is made in the form of a triangular arrow pointing up.
  2. In the list that appears, right-click (RMB) on the GeForce Experience icon.
  3. In the menu that opens, select "Open."
  4. In the window that appears, go to the "Drivers" tab.
  5. Click on the “Check for Updates” button.
  6. After checking, a report will appear in which, if a new version of the software is detected, the Download button will be present. Click to start driver download.
  7. After the download is complete, click the Express Install button.

Immediately after this, the installation of the downloaded driver will begin. Since we chose express installation, this process will not force you to perform additional actions. After installation, a message appears informing you of this. It is recommended that you restart your computer after this.

Method 2: through the “Device Manager”

Perhaps the easiest way to update an NVIDIA graphics card is through the Task Manager. Firstly, this method does not imply pre-installation of additional software. And secondly, to implement the plan, you will need to perform much less action.

  1. Open Device Manager. The easiest way to do this is by searching the system with the same query.
  2. In the application window that opens, expand the "Video Adapters" list.
  3. Right click on the name of the video card.
  4. From the menu, select "Update Drivers."
  5. In the new window, click "Auto Search".

That’s all, the computer itself will search for the required software and install it.

Conclusion

This is how simple it is to install driver updates on a graphics card from NVIDIA. It is worth noting that the first method is guaranteed to update the adapter to the latest version, while the computer through the "Task Manager" can not always detect the latest updates.
