In the city of Perm on the Siberian street is a puppet theater. It was founded back in 1937, when the regional committee for the arts organized a troupe at the Perm Philharmonic.
History of creation
Puppet Theater in Perm at first was a very small troupe. The first tale, which was set in it, - "By the command of the pike." The artists were forced to lead a nomadic lifestyle, they had to constantly go on tour, moving from place to place in trucks, steamboats and horses, since the theater did not have its own building. However, the troupe continued to work even during the war years.
In 1959, the building was finally allocated - a historic building erected by architect N. Rukavishnikov. Now it is already a repertory theater, operating on a stationary basis, with its own building, in which there are two halls - a large and a small one, where performances are performed on high-quality literary material for children and adults.
From 1960 to 1982, the chief director in the puppet theater was Viktor Davidovich Ofrichter. He was an extremely enthusiastic man and managed to bring the troupe's work to the highest level. In 2010, a memorial plaque was opened in his honor . During the years of Ofrichter’s service, the theater very often took part in festivals (in Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic) and received diplomas.
From 1983 to 1987, the main director of the theater was I.V. Ignatiev, who is now an honored artist of the Russian Federation and artistic director of the Tale Theater in St. Petersburg. He brought vivid and imaginative solutions to the productions, modernized them. Under the direction of Ignatiev, the troupe went on tour in many countries of the world, up to America and Japan. Some performances of the director remain in the repertoire to this day.
From 1995 to 2013, the leader was I.N. Ternavsky, who gave the theater an additional impetus to development. Under him, a large number of interesting productions were created, due to which a large number of new viewers were attracted. A talented director and actor, he managed to identify new opportunities for the puppet theater.
In the 21st century, new significant productions appeared in the repertoire, which were awarded prizes and awards, as well as diplomas and prizes at festivals and competitions.
Friendship with S. V. Obraztsov
Puppet Theater (Perm) acquired some technical means for its productions thanks to Sergei Vladimirovich Obraztsov. He assisted in the construction and equipment of the stage in the building when it was first allocated to the troupe. Initially, the room was completely unsuitable for the theater, because once there was a prison in it. While there was no studio in the Perm institution, all the characters were made in the workshops of the State Academic Central Puppet Theater in Moscow, which was led by Sergei Obraztsov. The first production, already shown in its own room, was the comedy performance for adults “Devil's Mill”. Characters for her also made in the GAZTK.
The fact that the directors and artists had an internship in the theater of Sergei Vladimirovich Obraztsov had a very positive effect on the Puppet Theater in Perm.

Today the Puppet Theater (Perm) lives and makes its audience happy under the direction of Dmitry Vasilievich Zabolotsky, who is currently acting as artistic director. He is also a director and screenwriter. At various times, Zabolotskikh successfully collaborated with other Perm theaters. In addition, Dmitry Vasilievich is famous for creating radio series, television plays, documentaries and short feature films in collaboration with the Perm New Studio film studio, as well as composing music for his productions.
The director of the Perm Puppet Theater is Savina Irina Dmitrievna. She began her career as an actress in the Lysven Drama Theater. Then she was a TV presenter, since 2008 she held a position in the Ministry of Culture of the Perm Territory. Since 2013 - Director of the Puppet Theater.
