The line of graphic editors from the Canadian company "Korel" from its very appearance has firmly established itself in the market for the corresponding software. In one set of "Corel" contains not one but four programs for working with images at once - Corel Draw, Corel RAVE, Corel Trace and Corel Photo Paint. If the first three editors are mainly needed for more or less experienced artists, then the latter is indispensable for lovers of the uncomplicated and uncomplicated processing of photographs and drawings.
However, if the user just sends a search request, in response he is offered more than two dozen names of the old and new Corel products, starting with Corel Graphics Suite 1.x and ending with the latest version of the software - X7, as well as an improved Corel photo editor separated from the general set Paint Shop Pro Photo. How do they differ and how to choose the right program?
Advantages of Corel Photo Paint over Adobe Photoshop
The program Adobe Photoshop for processing bitmap graphics has gained tremendous popularity among users around the world. In Russian, the noun “photoshop” and the verb “photoshop” have become synonymous with editing photographs and drawings. Nevertheless, in spite of such a success “in words”, Photoshop is often too tough for beginners - in the complex interface of the editor it is sometimes very difficult to find the desired function.
The product of the Korel company is much more intuitive - it’s easy to deal with it even in children and adolescents. Also, a very important plus in the ease of use of Corel Photo Paint is the ability to adjust the size of the brush when holding the Shift key, as well as some other similar combinations that simplify the work in the editor. Adobe Photoshop, for all its merits, does not offer the user anything like this.
Unique filters of the photo editor "Corel"
Corel Photo Paint has a set of filters and tools that are not found in any photo editor, similar in popularity. Among them, one can especially distinguish:
- Red eye removal. Red eye removal tool. For ease of use, it is recommended to use the “Brush” option - this way other parts of the face will not undergo unexpected changes in color.
- Frame. A simple tool for creating frames. In Adobe Photoshop, making a frame is not easy at all - there are even special tutorials for this. In Corel Photo Paint, there are no difficulties with creating frames.
- Weather Plugin to add weather conditions to the image, such as snow, rain and fog. To create a realistic picture there are all the necessary settings. The filter is suitable not only for comic processing of photographs, but also for quick creation of spectacular postcards and posters.
Also in the photo editor from "Corel" there is always a large selection of texture filters - the image in two clicks is transferred to the surface, for example, of a brick wall, cobblestones or ivory.
Corel Paint Shop Pro Product
The Corel Photo Paint photo editor cannot be purchased separately - the program is part of the Corel Graphics Suite. However, not so long ago, at the request of users who, in addition to Photo Paint, did not need a single program from the set, the creators of the line brought to light a new product - Corel Paint Shop Photo. A separate Paint Shop program is slightly wider in its functionality - in addition to image processing, the user can share them without closing the editor window, which allows the built-in synchronization function with social networks. The interface is still intuitive, so it is suitable for both an experienced user and a beginner.
Deficiencies of the Corel Photo Paint Editor
The weakest point in the Corel Photo Paint line is working with layers. Both in the initial versions and in the latest releases, such as Corel Photo Paint X6, a similar function is called Objects, but the variety of interactions with “objects” is rather poor. Nevertheless, the bulk of the users of photo editors from "Corel" does not feel the need for complex photo editing. Most professionals still use Photoshop from Adobe for photo editing, leaving beginners and amateurs the option to easily and simply process images using an intuitive editor.
Other Corel Graphics Suite Suite software
- Corel draw Vector graphics editor. It is used to create and edit images and is indispensable as a map and drawing editor. Before use, it is recommended to obtain basic knowledge about vector graphics or study tutorials.
- Corel RAVE A program for creating animations based on Corel Draw. It is worth noting that the animation function is also available in Corel Photo Paint, however, in its functionality, the latter is significantly inferior to RAVE
- Corel Trace The program for converting raster images to vector. Indispensable when working with maps, drawings and other images requiring processing in a vector editor. In the latest versions of Corel Graphics Suite, the trace function is built into Corel Draw, which greatly simplified the work of designers and engineers using Corel software for work purposes.
- Corel Capture A tool for taking screenshots, or, in simple terms, capturing images from a computer screen. On the keyboard of any PC, there is a PrintScreen button that allows you to take a screenshot of the entire screen, but most often the user needs only a small area. Corel Capture allows you to capture a certain part without extra efforts in a few clicks and without downloading additional programs, which will save time and nerves for those who wish to share funny observations.
