As you know, in each version of the Windows operating system there are a number of built-in tools designed to make people with disabilities more comfortable and convenient to use the computer. Among them, it is worth highlighting such a tool as a magnifier. Interacting with the graphic output of information on a PC / laptop, it increases the part of it that needs to be better considered. Thus, it is a technical means of rehabilitation for visually impaired people. Below we consider the principle of its operation and the available control settings.
First of all, we will figure out how to call this tool. Magnifier opens in several ways:
- Control panel: we find the menu "Accessibility" and through it we turn on the magnifying glass.
- Start: in the tab "All Programs" we find the folder "Accessibility" and open the application "Screen Magnifier".
- Easier and faster this is done using the "hot" keys "Win" and "+".
After activating this tool, a small control menu appears on the screen, which quickly disappears under the magnifying glass icon (in the upper left corner of the screen). Now we can make a number of necessary settings. For example, select the appropriate magnification. "Magnifier" has several modes of operation:
- The first view is Full Screen (enlarges the entire area). You can adjust the degree of increase with the hot keys "Win" and "+" or "-", as well as through the program menu. This mode allows you to work as comfortable as possible in any application.
- Classic view - "Zoom". In this case, only individual enlarged fragments will be shown, which will change after the movement of the mouse cursor. You can select this mode from the "View / Zoom" program or by calling it with the "Ctrl + Alt + L" key combination .
- If you have to work with small fonts, numbers, it will be convenient to use the "Fixed" view. In this case, a window appears at the top of the screen (above the active window), and all the contents - at the bottom. During operation, everything you do will be displayed in this window in an enlarged view. You can quickly call this mode with the command "Ctrl + Alt + D".

At the same time, in the last two options, you can configure how the screen magnifier will change the image. In the menu options, set whether the magnifying glass follows the mouse cursor movement or keyboard control.
In the event that the Windows 7/8 / XP magnifier does not meet your needs, you can refer to one of the similar programs created to replace standard system tools. As a rule, they have advanced functionality and provide users with more control capabilities. We suggest using the tools of the same name utility for a computer designed to enlarge a portion of the desktop or window and allowing you to consider even very small details and text. Among the available settings are determining the degree of transparency of the enlarged area, the magnification factor, and others. After starting the program absolutely does not interfere with your work on the computer. And if necessary, easily called by hot keys.
Choosing to use standard Windows tools or to use additional applications is up to you. The main thing is that there is a choice, and in any case it will be successful.
