D-243 - an engine that has been tested by time.

The most popular machine in Belarus, of course, is the MTZ tractor. But in all the countries of the post-Soviet space, the products of the Minsk Motor Plant, which presented D-243 to mankind, an engine characterized by power, reliability, unpretentiousness and versatility, are highly valued.

Diesel engine D-243

D-243 - the engine, which is a diesel power plant with an in-line arrangement of cylinders (a total of four cylinders are installed in the engine). To control the speed of the crankshaft, a mechanical regulator is used. Cooling is traditionally liquid, naturally aspirated.

Due to its unpretentiousness, the D-243 motor deserved most of the popularity . The engine is capable of running on low-quality fuel at an ambient temperature of +44 to - 44 degrees Celsius.

The main purpose of power units is to install on tractors with a thrust class of 14-20 kN. Most often they are equipped with agricultural or industrial equipment, as well as forestry machines.

But often in the composition of highly specialized machines (power plants of the AD series, diesel PD drives and pump units) also include D-243 installations. At the same time, engines should be provided with one condition - to operate in an area with unlimited air exchange.

Specifications

D-243 is an engine that is recommended to be installed on MTZ-82 and MTZ-80 tractors, while it should be additionally equipped with some elements of electrical equipment, control sensors, oil and water radiators.

Only in this case implements the D-243 engine, the characteristics of which are presented below, all its capabilities.

1. The method of mixture formation is direct injection of fuel.
2. The number of working cylinders is four, in-line arrangement.
3. The working volume of the cylinders is 4.75 liters.
4. Operating power - 59.6 kW.
5. The maximum torque is 258 N * m.
6. The compression ratio is 16 units.
7. Gross weight 430 kg.

In this case, the crankshaft at idle can rotate only with a frequency of 2380 rpm, because it is limited by the regulator.

Performance indicators

In addition to technical characteristics, and operational indicators characterize the installation of D-243. The engine during operation issues the following standards:

• fuel consumption during operation at 100% power and at a speed of 1500 rpm - 220 g / kW * h;
• consumption of engine oil for "combustion" - 0.9 g / kW * h; at 100% load - not more than 0.2 liters per hour;
• the type of motor oil used is CI-4 class according to AP'I or E3-96, 4-99, 5-02 class according to AS';
• type of antifreeze - low-freezing TS-40 or TS-65 coolant.

Engines are started either by an electric starter or by a prestarting power plant. In the latter case, the letter “L” is added to the name.

Depending on the purpose of the tractor on which the motor is mounted, the installation can be equipped with additional equipment - pneumatic compressors, clutch discs and other assemblies. This must be taken into account during maintenance, and then the D-243 engine will not require repair.
