Among consumers, interest in modern technical solutions in terms of playing three-dimensional video at home is gradually increasing. Naturally, this raises questions for many people - not everyone understands how to watch 3D on a TV. In itself, the technology for transmitting three-dimensional video has been implemented for a long time and in various variations, but this applies to projectors. The television format implies a number of specific features in 3D playback, and therefore the solutions used in the movie are ineffective.
3D through movie projectors
The volume in the video is created due to the fact that the images are separated - the right and left eyes receive different frames, and their superposition leads to the 3D effect. In order to separate the frames, glasses with lenses painted in red and green were used. Subsequently, a more advanced technology for polarizing glasses, which was used in IMAX. There is also RealD - this technology combines brightness and quality when transmitting images with high frequency. In the cinema, the 3D effect is realized with the help of expensive specialized equipment, and therefore the question of how to watch 3D on a TV is solved by other methods.
3D TV Resolution
The most widely used format is HD, corresponding to 1080 vertical points. The three-dimensional image is transmitted in accordance with a certain principle, which is used by 3D LED TVs with such a resolution - it involves showing separate frames for the left and right eye. Frequencies of conventional TVs are not enough for this, since screen flicker occurs . The required frequency for 3D technology on TVs is 120 Hz, compared to the usual 50 Hz. This requires a minimum response time to avoid overlapping frames. This indicator is currently best implemented in plasma TVs. As for LCDs, matrices, it is far from always possible to meet response times corresponding to 3D requirements in them. Difficulties in transmitting and playing
The problem is not so much in the image of three-dimensional content on a television screen, but in the transfer of information to this screen. Large amounts of data are transferred, and in order for the technology to work correctly, appropriate channels are required - for example, HDMI version 1.4. Most other data transfer technologies cannot handle the amount of information for 3D.
In order to watch 3D video, special 3D glasses for the TV are required. The most modern technology is active glasses with alternate darkening of the lenses, they will work only when synchronized with the matrix.
