More than 80 years ago, the Central Academic Theater of the Russian Army appeared in Moscow, unique in its architecture. His repertoire is diverse, viewers with completely different tastes will find here interesting performances for themselves. Theater construction
At the initiative of the Political Administration of the Red Army in 1929, agitation brigades were created to speak to the military. And in 1930, a troupe was formed from them. So the Army Theater was born. The premiere performance was called "K.V.Zh.D.", he talked about the events that took place on the Sino-Eastern Railway. At TsATRA, a studio was opened in which actors were trained, whose best graduates were recruited to the Army Theater. The building of the troupe appeared in 1940. Prior to this, the artists with their performances went on a long tour. Almost the whole country was occupied with the construction of the theater - about forty Soviet factories took an active part in this. Some assembled motors, others were responsible for the fittings, others for marble parts, and so on.
Unique building
K.S. Alabyan and V. N. Simbirtsev are the names of the architects who designed the theater building. According to their idea, the room was to become a real monument. The Army Theater is a five-pointed star. This building is a monument to hero warriors. The five-pointed star is the emblem of the Soviet army. The building has two auditoriums - they are located in the center of the star. Around them is the lobby. The large hall has a very deep stage. Designed by her engineer E. Maltsin. The stage has excellent technical equipment: there is a rear entrance for tanks, in the center there are rotating drums, the smooth floor changes to embossed, the stage has lifting and lowering tables. The rays of the star are buffets, dressing rooms and rehearsals. The theater building is crowned with a turret and mounted on a four-meter stylobate, as if on a pedestal, which was done in order to emphasize the fact that its main significance is to be a monument. The room is amazing for its architecture, technical equipment and grandiose size.

Legendary figures
The Army Theater has always been famous for its troupe. At different times, such bright and talented actors as Faina Ranevskaya, Lyudmila Chursina, Vladimir Zeldin, Larisa Golubkina and others have served or are still serving here.
Faina Ranevskaya. This is a great actress, a wise witty woman and a bright extraordinary personality. Faina Georgievna did not have an acting education, but thanks to her talent, she is still among the unsurpassed masters of the stage and movie screen. Faina Ranevskaya was the daughter of a millionaire, suffered from an inferiority complex due to her ugly appearance, considered herself a freak and even stuttered. Since childhood, she was in love with the theater, did not miss a single performance, and later began to attend the theater studio. On stage, Faina felt like a fish in water and did not even stutter at all. Parents had nothing against her passion for theater until her daughter spoke out that she dreams of becoming a professional actress. Her father was angry and put her before a choice - either family or acting. Faina Georgievna, without hesitation, chose the second. After which she did not see her family for 40 years. The actress was lonely all her life and blamed her talent. Art was her family. The real name of Faina Georgievna is Feldman. The actress explained the appearance of such a pseudonym by the fact that she always dropped everything. F. G. Ranevskaya never climbed into a pocket for a word and she always had answers for everything. The most famous films with her participation were the paintings “Dream” by Mikhail Rum and “Foundling”, where the actress pronounces her legendary phrase: “Mule, don’t make me nervous.”
Vladimir Zeldin. In 2015, this wonderful artist celebrated his centenary. Vladimir Mikhailovich studied acting at the ISPSA theater, in a course with Eugene Lepkovsky. V.M. Zeldin is famous for his many films. In 1940-41, director Ivan Pyryev directed him in the title role in the film “Pig and Shepherd”. Vladimir Zeldin has served in the Theater of the Russian Army to this day, starting in 1946. At 100, he still enters the stage and plays roles in plays and films. In the movie, Vladimir Ivanovich played more than 40 roles in the movie. The actor has repeatedly been a laureate of various theater awards and festivals, received the title of People's Artist of the USSR.
Lyudmila Chursina. Theater and film actress. She dreamed of graduating from the Moscow Aviation Institute and doing serious business - building aircraft, but she joined the Shchukin Theater School for a company with a friend. Unexpectedly for herself, she became an actress. In 1981 she received the title of People's Artist of the USSR. In the Theater of the Russian (and formerly Soviet) Army Lyudmila Chursina has been working since 1984.
