Screen calibration is needed primarily for processing photos. With its help, the computer adjusts color, contrast and brightness for the most comfortable work in the conditions of finding this device.
Screen calibration in Windows with its tools
This OS has a built-in tool that allows you to carry out the action in question. It is used in the following cases:
- the colors are very light;
- they are unsaturated;
- they may also be gray.
This tool is located in the âScreenâ menu, which can be called up from the desktop context menu, in it go to the âAdvanced screen settingsâ tab, and in it - to âColor calibrationâ. This path is typical for Windows 10. In version 7, the path is shorter - âControl Panelâ - âScreenâ - âColor Calibrationâ.
After the program window appears, click on âNextâ to start the process.
Initially, default values ââwill be suggested for screen calibration. Clicking on âNextâ, we move to the next window, in which using a vertically located slider it can be done so that there are no spots inside the circles in the central part of the window. Click "Next", a window for controlling contrast and brightness appears. If everything suits you, skip this setting by clicking on the button of the same name. If not, click Next.
When adjusting the contrast, it is necessary that, in the maximum possible position, the buttons and folds on the shirt in the figure that will be presented be clearly distinguishable.
The brightness is adjusted so that the colors are not very light and do not merge.
Click "Next" and check how the gray bars are displayed. If there are color tones, you need to twist the sliders located at the bottom of the screen.
Click "Next", we get into the window of comparison of previous and current settings. If you do not uncheck the box below, then a window will open to configure the displayed fonts. From them choose the one that meets your preferences.
Third-party calibration in Windows
There are no automated screen calibration applications. This is due to the fact that each user has his own special subjective view of colors, brightness and contrast, and it should be based on his preferences.
There are paid and free programs for screen calibration.
The former include Atrise lutcurve and Cltest, and the latter include Quickgamma and Adobe Gamma.
Calibration in Windows 10 on a tablet and laptop
The slight differences from the above methods in a laptop is that there should be a touch screen. If not, then the sequence is the same as on the computer.
Sequencing:
- âControl Panelâ - âEquipment and Soundâ - âTablet Computer Settingsâ.
- "Calibration for ... with a stylus or touch input."
- Click on this button, a new window will appear.
- Click "Calibrate."
We allow the execution of this application.
After that, the program will start. Here you will need to click on the crosshairs that will appear in different places on the display. At the end of the process, the result must be saved.
Gadget use
Screen calibration on the "Android" is the same. Its main goal is to combat uncontrolled behavior when the display is pressed, insufficient response, excessive, or, conversely, insufficient sensitivity. In order to make sure that calibration is really necessary, you need to do a number of actions.
Before calibrating the phone screen, remove the protective film, if any. In case of its absence, the screen is cleaned with a special napkin or soft cloth.
We touch the touch screen. If the display is not the one you were supposed to count on, then screen calibration is necessary. It will also be needed if you increase the waiting time for a response to an action, or if broken lines appear in graphic applications.
In addition, it must be carried out when liquid bodies get into the device or fall.
The quality of work deteriorates with prolonged use of the gadget. It happens that the opposite process - inaction - leads to the same consequences. Also, scratches, abrasions lead to this.
It will be needed even if you bought a new gadget, but it does not work correctly.
We carry out the process
The most popular are gadgets with the pre-installed Android OS. Calibrating the screen on them allows you to increase the efficiency of their use. It must be carried out without fail if the screen does not respond correctly to touches.
We go into the menu - "Settings" - "Phone Settings" or "Language", "Enter", select the item "Calibration" and follow the instructions that will be offered. Before implementing this process, the gadget must be placed on a flat horizontal surface.
The process itself is quite transparent and simple. Various points and other geometric shapes appear on the screen and the user must click on them. By performing this process, the system determines which display points are more responsive and which are less responsive.
It should be borne in mind that touch screen calibration is not available by default on all gadget models. In this case, verification must be carried out by special applications.
Engineering menu
It is a special section of settings, with the help of which more complex and accurate debugging is performed.
To access it, you need to click on the phone button on the screen, and then dial one of the numbers (for each device itâs different, everyone works on some). You need to try * # * # 3646633 # * # *, * # 15963 # *, * # * # 4636 * # *. After entering the last character, the call button is not pressed, the engineering menu opens itself. At the top we go to Hardware Testing, in it we go to Sensor. It is in it that we find how to calibrate the screen. We find the Sensor Calibration item, in it we clear the old calibration by clicking on the Clear Calibration button, then select Do calibration with the choice of the percentage, depending on what screen sensitivity we want to get: the lower the percentage, the higher it will be. After that we return home or back, saving is done automatically. After that, the gadget is overloaded, and the problem should be fixed.
Other calibration methods
Those methods that were described above are not suitable for all gadgets, in addition, it has a rather weak accuracy.
Calibration of the tablet screen, as well as other gadgets, must be performed in the way that is usually used for their use: touching with a hand or stylus.
The most popular application is Touchscreen Calibration. It can be downloaded from the Play Market.
Touchscreen calibration
It is free and does not take up much free space. Depending on the technical characteristics of the gadget, the load on hardware resources can be from small to moderate.
After starting the application in the main menu, you can find a big blue button called Calibrate, which you need to click. The user will be prompted to perform a test similar to the built-in calibration program. But it includes not only touches, but also the implementation of various actions, such as tap, double tap and others.
After all of them are completed, a message will appear on the screen informing about the successful completion of the process.
Quick tuneup
This application is similar to the previous one, but uses different methods to accomplish the same goals. If using the previous utility did not fix the situation, it makes sense to try this program to calibrate the screen.
It is also located in the Google app store, is free, but English-language. The previous program is not without this drawback.
We launch the application. In its main menu, click on Display Calibration. Next is the waiting process, since here is another algorithm that does not involve testing. Troubleshooting is automatic. In the same mode, debugging is performed. When the last process starts, an icon showing progress is displayed on the screen. After completion, the gadget needs to be rebooted.
IPhone Calibration
These devices are not without this drawback.
There are several calibration methods. as an example, consider a method for calibrating a car brightness sensor.
To do this, go to the room in which the light is turned off, it is desirable that there is no such daylight. Go to "Settings" - "Screen and brightness." "Auto brightness" set to "Off." Then we shift the âBrightnessâ slider to the leftmost position. After that, "Auto Brightness" is turned on. After that, he himself will take the position that is necessary for comfortable work.
Another method is to create a copy and restore the phone, in the framework of this article we will not consider it.
Finally
Each device has its own screen calibration methods. The need for their use arises due to the deterioration of the gadget's performance or the loss of color sensitivity on stationary computers. It can be achieved by built-in tools, or maybe using third-party applications. They are mainly aimed at testing, during which the user is prompted to click on various geometric shapes, as a result of which the sensitivity of the monitor or touch screen is set. The most simple calibration is carried out in phones from Apple. Here it is enough to first push the buttons back, and then move the automatic tuning forward.
