The Gorky Automobile Plant in the USSR was one of the main manufacturers of light and medium tonnage trucks. And still saves these positions in Russia. One of these models is the GAZ-3507 (SAZ).
General Features
The car in question is a medium-tonnage truck with an all-metal body of various unloading options, created on the basis of the GAZ-33072 (3309) chassis. Its double designation is explained by the fact that the Saransk dump truck plant was engaged in the release of the car on the GAZ platform.
History
Series production of the 4th generation medium-tonnage model 3307 began in 1989 as a successor to the GAZ-53A. Based on it, two modifications of dump trucks were developed: 3507-01 and 35072. In the early 2000s, the chassis 3309 was developed, which was also used for them, as a result of which versions 35071 and 35072-10 appeared. In 2009, the release of gasoline modifications on the platform 33072 was discontinued.
Chassis
The frame has a stamped, riveted design. At the same time, for the GAZ-3507 (SAZ) car, it was slightly changed. So, a rear frame shortened by 0.152 m was installed, the spare wheel was moved 0.272 m back. In addition, the towing device 33072 was replaced by towing hooks on the GAZ-SAZ-3507. The specifications below are different for each version. Only the wheelbase for all options is 3.77 m, the front track is 1.69 m and the rear track is 1.63 m.
Cabin
The cabin was taken from the original modification 3307. In all versions, it is metal, two-door, two-seater. Equipped with a heater, but no air conditioning. The seats are adjustable in height and angle of inclination of the back. The hydraulic body control levers are located in the cab.
Platform
Vehicle modifications are distinguished by their design, overall dimensions of the body and the way of its folding. The loading platform of versions 35071 and 3507-01 has a length of 3.516 m, a width of 2.28 m, a height of 0.62 m (1.25 m with extension sides). Its area is 8 m 2 , the volume is 5 m 3 . The extended sides double the last parameter. At the same time, the side and rear sides are hinged, so unloading can be carried out in three directions.
Later, a new version of the platform for these versions appeared. It differs in length (3,484 m) and width (2,304 m) from the previous one.
The dump truck body is equipped with a single-acting telescopic hydraulic drive, consisting of three extendable sections, the total length of which is 0.667 m. This mechanism ensures the body tilts 45 ° to the side or 50 ° back. The process of tipping and returning to the starting position takes 30 seconds. There are options with an Italian drive. The overall dimensions of these versions are 6.471 m in length, 2.456 m - in width, 2.32 m - in height (in the cabin).
Modifications 35072 and 35072-10 have a different body. In addition, they are divided into versions 0000010 and 0000015. The overall dimensions of the body are 3.05 m in length, 2.333 m in width and 0.586 m (0000010) or 0.781 m (0000015 due to the presence of a visor) - in height. The area of its floor is 7.1 m 2 , the volume with extension sides is 4 m 3 (0000010) or 5.4 m 3 (0000015). For these options, only the tailgate is hinged (reinforced in the first version), therefore, unloading can be carried out only in this direction.
The hydraulic drive also ensures that the body tilts exclusively backward by 50 °. The length of such machines is 6.163 m, the width is 2.7 m, and the height along the cab is 2.35 m. Engine
The car meets two engines: ZMZ-5231 (3507-01 and 35072) and MMZ D-245.7 E3 (35071 and 35072-10). The ZMZ-5231 truck has a 4.25-liter gasoline 8-cylinder engine, which has a V-shaped layout and a power of 113 liters. from. at 3200 rpm and 294.3 Nm at 3500 rpm. The MMZ D-245.7 E3 has a 4.75-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine equipped with a turbine. It has a capacity of 119 liters. from. at 2400 rpm and 413 Nm at 1300-1600 rpm.
Transmission
All modifications of the GAZ-3507 (SAZ) were equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission with a single-disk dry clutch. The drive was to the rear wheels.
Chassis
The pendants were mounted on four semi-elliptical longitudinal springs. The front has double-acting telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers. The rear is equipped with additional springs. Ground clearance is 265 mm. Diesel cars are equipped with a steering mechanism of a screw-ball nut type with a hydraulic booster, while gasoline cars are equipped with a globoid worm with a three-ridged roller without an amplifier. Braking system - with pneumatic-hydraulic drive and drum mechanisms. Handbrake - with cable drive. The car is equipped with 20-inch disc wheels with radial pneumatic tires.
Performance
The engine determines many operational characteristics of the GAZ-SAZ-3507. Thus, it is possible to transport 4.125 tons of cargo (4.325 tons - with extension sides) on the 3507-01 model and 4.1 tons - on 35072. The curb weight of the first modification is 3.6 tons (extension boards increase it by 200 kg) , full - 8 tons. For 35072, the same parameters without extension boards are 3.69 tons and 7.94 tons, respectively.
Truck 35071 is capable of transporting 4 tons, and 35072 - 3.95 tons. The curb weight and gross weight for the first version are 3.94 and 8.09 tons, and for the second - 4.08 and 8.18 tons. Fuel consumption is also different . Gasoline versions spend 100 km at 60 km / h 19.6 liters, and diesel - 14 liters. The maximum speed is 95 km / h for 35072-10 and 90 km / h for other modifications of the GAZ-3507 (SAZ).

The nuances of using the cars in question are determined by the body structure. So, versions with three-sided unloading are intended for transportation of agricultural and other bulk cargoes, and versions with a tilting body are used for transportation of building materials and other bulk and bulk cargoes.
