There are three ways to write vertical text in Word . Two involve the use of built-in tools in the program, and one - the most trivial - and does offer to do everything quickly and without unnecessary complications, but about everything in order.

First way: applying a table

So, we begin to explain how to write text vertically in Word. The first method to be considered involves using a table.

First you need to create a table, but it is important to create it with one cell. To do this, first go to the "Insert" tab and in the panel click on the "Table" tab. In the menu that appears, you need to move the cursor to the upper left box and click LMB to create a table with one cell.

After creating, you can resize it by grabbing one of the edges and pulling it in the right direction. Aligned, you can start inserting text or writing it. It’s easier, of course, to copy and paste. To do this, use the CTRL + C and CTRL + V keyboard shortcuts.

After the desired text has been placed in the cell, you can change its direction. To do this, click RMB on the cell itself and select "Text Direction" from the menu. In the window that opens, you just have to choose the orientation of its writing and click "OK".

As you can see, the inscription has become vertical. You now need to adjust the edges of the cell so that the text is easy to read and remove the borders of the table. To get rid of them, click RMB on the table and, clicking on the "Borders" button, select "No Border".

how to rotate text in Word

This was the first way to write vertical text in Word. Someone may like it, but someone may not come up at all, so we continue.

Second way: applying a text field

This method, which tells you how to rotate text in Word, is not much different from the previous one, but it does have some features. Unlike the table, the text in the text box can be rotated at any angle, and not just vertically.

First of all, you need to create the text field itself. To do this, go to the "Insert" tab and click on the "Text field" button in the "Text" tool group. You will see a menu with the proposed templates. You can choose any, but it is recommended to choose the very first "Simple Label" so that the text is written without unnecessary formatting.

After inserting it, the text will be written in it, which you can safely delete. You need to insert your text there. You can also use copy and paste for this. Similarly, you can resize the field by hovering over the edges and moving them.

In Word, vertical text can be written differently without using any tools. To do this, you need to make a paragraph after each letter written by pressing the ENTER button. In places where there should be a space - press this button twice. If you need to change the distance between letters, then, having previously selected all the text, change the interval.
