"Old House" is a theater that began its career as a branch, and then grew into an independent collective. In his repertoire, classics and modernity peacefully coexist.
Theater History
"Old House" is a theater that was created in the 30s of the 20th century. At the initial stage of its existence, it was mobile. The collective began its creative life as a branch of the theater with the name "Red Torch". Actors toured throughout the Novosibirsk region. The repertoire included plays by A. Ostrovsky, M. Gorky, A. Korneychuk.
In 1943, the theater received the status of Regional. During the war years, the troupe performed at the fronts. In 1967, the Old House Theater received its own building. His address is Novosibirsk, Bolshevistskaya street, house number 45. The theater "lives" here today. In 1975, a talented director Vladimir Chernyadev came to his stage. He was a student of G. Tovstonogov himself. Thanks to him, the works of contemporary authors have appeared in the repertoire. The theater got its current name in 1991. This was facilitated by a new director and artistic director in one person Simon Verkhgradsky.
In 2008, the "Old House" celebrated its 75th anniversary. This event was timed to coincide with the publication of a book by Elena Klimova entitled “Remarks on the Fields of History”. It tells about how the theater began its career and what it has become today. Today the troupe is constantly taking part in the festivals. Touring gerography has already gone beyond the scope of the region. The "Old House" carries its performances to various cities of Russia. And also the actors have already toured in other countries.
In 2011, the project "Days of the Italian Theater" was organized on the stage of the "Old House". His program included showing several performances directed by Antonio Latella on the tragedies of Euripides. Now the theater plans to carry out a large-scale reconstruction of the entire building, restore its facade, open a second stage, and also install modern equipment.
