Natural Wood Furniture. Which Tree to Choose?

You decided that you want to see natural wood furniture in your interior, but you cannot determine what type of wood you prefer? The question is not the easiest, because all types of wood have their own operational properties, not to mention the unique texture. But we can advise what tree it will be best to make one or another piece of furniture.

Pine. Easy to work tree. When choosing a pine as a material for furniture, remember that there are almost always knots on its cut, and the lines of tree rings are smooth and clear. This breed has significant hardness. They make inexpensive furniture, doors and window frames from it.

Fruit trees. Cherry, apple or pear are easy to process. Natural wood furniture of such species can easily be decorated with carvings or inlays. But remember that these types of wood are not particularly durable, so it is better to make them of static, little-used furniture.

Larch. One of the best breeds for the manufacture of furniture, especially furniture for permanent use, such as tables or chairs. Larch is light in weight, but very strong and durable wood, the qualities of which are compared with the qualities of oak. It is processed quite simply and quickly. Another β€œmagical” property of this breed is its resistance to moisture. In contact with soil or water, larch does not rot and does not become a place of residence for a variety of insects. Moreover, larch wood, by its very presence, has a healthy effect on the human body, eliminates colds and viral diseases. Larch can distinguish up to 12 color shades, which allows it to be used in a variety of interior solutions.

Ash. A very hard (but softer than oak) type of wood with distinct annual rings. Because of the texture, the furniture from it looks noble and aesthetically pleasing, especially if it is additionally decorated with carvings. Another good option is bent ash, which will look especially aristocratic. Ash is considered one of the most environmentally friendly species. Warm and cozy colors make it suitable for living quarters.

Birch. Light yellow wood, less often light brown. Most often, not even the wood itself is used, but its veneer. It lends itself well to varnishing, painting and decorative processing. Karelian birch wood is considered the most valuable and high-quality . Its cut color may resemble pinkish marble. It is widely used for decorative purposes, especially for the manufacture of small parts.

Oak. One of the hardest and strongest types of wood. It is difficult to machine and polish with difficulty, so furniture made of solid oak is considered very valuable. This is a good investment, because oak furniture will last at least many years, and even centuries. But it is not recommended to place it in small rooms, because the room will look gloomy. It is believed that the energy of oak is useful for those people who often have to make important decisions.

Acacia. The hardest of trees growing in Russia. The color of its wood is close to greenish or yellow. Only wet acacia can be machined with tools. However, it will serve for a very long time in any conditions, under any influences, and even with active use. It may slightly change color due to sunlight, but this will only decorate the product.

Mahogany (mahogany and caesalpinia). Very hard and valuable wood. It has a red-brown color and therefore looks very impressive. Mahogany is resistant to humidity and temperature changes, its texture is uniform, has no inclusions. You can finally determine what the color of mahogany will be, only after the final processing.

Wenge. Natural wenge or its veneer is a very rare type of material for furniture, and therefore is highly appreciated. Very strong and resistant to any influences, the wood has a dark color and a banded structure. If interior decorated in brown or cream colors, wenge furniture fits perfectly into it. However, do not abuse the dark color, especially if the room is small.
