To facilitate parking, you can purchase a special device - a parking radar. It automatically detects the distance to obstacles in front of and behind the machine, signals the presence of lateral interference. This device will also be useful when moving along narrow passages, allowing you to better navigate in space.
Parking radars consist of an electronic unit that is installed in the car interior and sensors that are installed on the bumpers of the car (some parking sensors are mounted inside the headlights). There are models of radars that have two, three, four, six, or eight sensors. Information from them goes to a display that displays the distance to various obstacles in the form of numbers or light and sound indications.
When reversing the car, the radar warns not only about the approach of large objects, but can “see” the posts and borders, which is useful when parking in the dark. Using such a system allows you to prevent damage to your or someone else's car. They
especially relevant in car models where rear visibility is limited. Sensors located on the
rear bumper turn on automatically when the car begins to
reverse, on the
front bumper they are activated when the brake is pressed (so that they do not turn on each time braking, some models have a force button).
The action of the parking radar is based on determining the distance using ultrasound. These devices are able to detect the presence of obstacles at a distance of 20 centimeters to 2 meters. If the system uses
parking sensors in sufficient quantity (four or more), then dead zones are excluded. If there are two sensors, then they may not see thin objects that are on the edges of the sensing zones. They vary in price (some models are 3-4 times more expensive than others with the same number of sensors) and design. The characteristics and tones are slightly different. When choosing a model, choose a model with sound signals that will not irritate you very much - when performing complex maneuvers, you need a calm
state. Parking sensors can be matched to the tone of the car or repainted before installation.
Parking sensors overlap or crash into the bumpers, and optical and audible alarms are installed on the dashboard. Some drivers prefer to install them behind the rear seats on a shelf, so that it is convenient to navigate, sitting half a turn when parking. Installation of parking sensors can be done at any service station.
These devices are tested at low and high temperatures, which is important for difficult climatic conditions in Russia. Parking sensors are tested at -20 ° C and at + 80 ° C, they are operated in conditions of high humidity, dust and pollution.
