When choosing a wardrobe, first of all, attention is paid to the functionality of the wardrobe. After all, each of us appreciates the useful space and wants to use it to the maximum. We will talk in more detail about what place a wardrobe closet occupies in a personβs life and what types of wardrobes generally exist.
Typology of wardrobes
Regardless of the variety of designs, style decisions, models and dimensions, all wardrobes for clothes are divided into three volume groups:
- Wardrobe - presented in the form of separate independent pieces of furniture, equipped with structural elements such as walls, bottom, top cover, facade. The main characteristics of such a wardrobe include mobility, the distinctive features are the system of the oar design of the doors.
- By wardrobe means an improved model of a wardrobe. The main distinguishing feature is the sliding system of door structures. In addition, the cabinet can be not only case-mounted, but also partially built-in, that is, it does not have one or more walls, a bottom, or a top cover in its design.
- Built-in wardrobes (fully or partially). This type of design actually replaces the mini-dressing room. For its arrangement, architectural components of the apartment are used, such as a niche, alcove, partition, which are equipped with shelving (angular or linear).
Evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of each type of cabinet and determine which one is most suitable for you, taking into account not only the style of the interior, but also based on the functional characteristics of the piece of furniture. Check out the types of wardrobes in more detail.
Wardrobes
An unassembled wardrobe consists of a set of parts: one or several compartments equipped with a bar, shelves, and a drawer system . One of the required structural elements is a full-size mirror. As additional options - holders for ties, scarves, scarves, a hanger for belts, a modular compartment for shoes.
To store clothes using combined types of wardrobes.
Modern modular systems can consist of a wide variety of blocks. The complete set depends on mass production and model of furniture production, as well as customer preferences (in case of individual furniture production). It is the complete set of the cabinet that determines the level of its functionality.
There are such types of dressing cabinets:
1. Travel bag
This name was given to the compact mobile design in the form of a wardrobe for the bedroom. In this design, a minimal set of shelves and a small number of compartments for storing hanging things. Most often, it is used to store everyday clothes and bows "for tomorrow." The bulk of things for the basic wardrobe are stored in another wardrobe.
2. 3-5 casement cabinets (combined)
Depending on the design features, such wardrobe cabinets consist of one or more sections with bars placed parallel to the back wall, a set of shelves, a system of drawers or other built-in elements. Such types of cabinets are produced with a standard depth of 60 cm and a width of one independent section of 50 cm.
3. End cabinet
A retractable hanger is mounted, as a rule, in structures with a shallow depth of 40 cm.
Depending on the shape, there are two types of wardrobes: corner and linear.
Advantages and disadvantages of wardrobes
Among the total number of positive characteristics, users distinguish three main advantages of freestanding cabinets for hanging clothes:
- mobility of structures, allowing you to freely move the cabinet from one wall to another, without resorting to outside help;
- an interesting design that can play an important role in complementing the interior of the room, turning a conventional cabinet into a bright point of emphasis;
- A wide range of models within this species.
The negative qualities include:
- Irrational operation of the space, both linear and horizontal, which manifests itself in the form of gaps at the top and bottom, between the body and the walls. This design requires additional space for opening the door facade, which is not very convenient if you have a small apartment.
- Classic models rarely fit into the design of modern interior styles or non-standard solutions to the configuration of a room, for example, ledges, a sloped ceiling, etc.
Feature of modern sliding wardrobes
The boom in wardrobes has been going on for 25 years, and the popularity of such designs has not fallen; moreover, they even gradually replace the wardrobe counterparts. A distinctive feature of this design is a system of sliding doors moving along the lower and upper guide tracks (tracks). The width of the doors, consisting of modules, can reach 3 meters in length. A limit of 60 cm maximum is applied to the width of one door leaf. This design allows you to rationally use the usable space and expand the capacity of the cabinet to the maximum. There are several types of wardrobes.
Case models
In fact, these are the same wardrobes with full and functional filling, but with a more modern and convenient door system. Installation, as a rule, is carried out at home. A positive point is the fact that if there is a need for dismantling and reassembling the structure, then this procedure is easy to implement.
Built-in wardrobe
The built-in wardrobe model involves the use of one of the architectural elements of the room. For such purposes, a plasterboard partition, ceiling or floor is suitable.
As you already understood, depending on the shape, these types of cabinets are distinguished (photos of designs are presented in the article): rectangular (linear), angular and diagonal, which depends on the size and configuration of the built-in part of the room.
Advantages and disadvantages of wardrobes
What is the reason for such a high popularity of this type of furniture? Let's analyze in more detail:
- in the wardrobe, the space for storing things is optimally used for its intended purpose;
- individual filling and modeling of the internal space can be performed together with a specialist, expressing their comments and suggestions;
- the use of such a design will not only allow to give the interior exclusivity, but also help to hide some of the shortcomings, for example, the unevenness of the walls or ceiling, if any.
Among the shortcomings, only large labor and material costs in manufacturing are noted, in comparison with cabinet furniture, which significantly increases the cost of construction.
Built-in mini walk-in closets
The only difference between a full-fledged dressing room and a built-in one is the lack of a dressing area with a dressing table due to the insufficiently large design. Mini-wardrobes are conventionally divided into 5 types, the definition of which depends on the particular arrangement of the interior space of a piece of furniture. Types of cabinets used as mini-wardrobes:
- cabinet or rack mini-wardrobe rooms;
- corner built-in wardrobes;
- modular systems;
- dressing rooms, the interior of which is decorated in the style of a loft;
- panel mini-wardrobes.
Features and disadvantages of designs
Features include:
- saving of useful space;
- zonal division of the room;
- interior design due to the principle of modularity of wardrobes;
- affordable price range.
Of the shortcomings noted:
- inability to move the cabinet;
- temporary and material labor costs arising in the process of installation of the structure.
As you can see, the advantages and disadvantages are inherent in each type of cabinet. In the house everyone wants to see the best option for furniture. Which of the types you would prefer, remember: the main thing is that you like the closet and meet functional needs, because your favorite and correctly selected furniture never causes trouble.
