Catfish is the true owner of any reservoir and the largest and most desirable prey of any spinning player. This is typically a bottom predator. Catfish are caught in areas of a pond with pits and a muddy bottom. These giant predators inhabit the pits of their choice, usually littered with snag. They love clean, warm water, but they can also be found in cold ponds. With the onset of twilight, catfish show their presence with noisy bursts. The most successful catfish catch in spring and early summer. Then the intensity of the bite subsides and in September it stops completely. Catfish goes for a meal in the evening and feeds until sunrise. For fishing choose warm, calm nights.

The most popular and at the same time old way is catching catfish on quoks. Our grandfathers also used this, albeit primitive, but very effective tackle. It consisted of a heavy weight, a thick fishing line and a large hook, on which a frog, meat or bait was mounted. But the shell is still considered the best bait. It is very versatile and suitable for catching many fish: pike, common carp, bream, but catfish adore it most of all. Also proven bait - the so-called "sandwiches", when several bait are strung on the hook at once. In addition to the standard snap-in elements, there is also the actual quotas. It is still not clear what makes the catfish respond to the sounds it makes and rise from the bottom.

Of course, such a tackle is very primitive and uncomfortable. Catfish catching is difficult when fishing, because you have to do this with bare hands for the fishing line. And this is always unsafe and can lead to negative consequences, even if the most powerful and thickest fishing line is used. At present, the gears, of course, have been greatly modernized, powerful spinning and reliable
inertialess reels have appeared, but the quack itself has remained the same and still effectively attracts a gluttonous predator to itself.
Catfish catching by trolling is also very effective. This method is best used on rivers with a mild course. For trolling, a wobbler with good depth is taken. The choice of bait depends on the degree of activity of the fish and the depth of the reservoir. When choosing a wobbler, it is worth giving preference to large specimens, since it will provoke a predator to bite in the best way. It is also worth paying attention to the leash used, it must be heavy-duty, many anglers advise using string No. 2. The stock of fishing line on the spools of the reel should be large, at least 200 meters. For one good spurt, the catfish is able to remove from the tackle up to 60-70 meters of fishing line. The requirements for the rod are extremely clear and understandable, it must be powerful, with good rings and a length of about two meters.
Catching catfish by trolling is difficult. You need to swim against the tide in areas with holes, preferably without snags, as hooks will at least lead to the loss of an expensive wobbler. The minimum speed is recommended, about 3-4 km / h. When the catfish is active, it grabs the bait almost anywhere in the pit, and when it is lethargic and passive, it is better to look for it at the outcrops of these holes.
