The Theater on Spasskaya (Kirov) was established in 1935. It was located in the old mansion of the merchant Arshaulov, built in the early 19th century. This building is famous for hosting a ball in honor of the widow of A.S. Pushkin - Natalia Goncharova, when she arrived in Kirov with her second husband. Later, the premises were used for musical and literary evenings, exhibitions, concerts. In the Soviet years there was a museum, and then a cinema.

The work of the first professional theater for children in Kirov began with a play based on the play by V. Lyubimova, "Sergei Streltsov." Put his first artistic director M. S. Shokhov.

The Theater on Spasskaya (Kirov) was rebuilt several times in its creative life. It was rebuilt from the inside almost the whole.

In 2000, the Kirov Youth Theater was declared the Theater of the Year and included in the top five provincial theaters in our country.

Since 2001, the project of Irina Brezhneva "Migration" has been working at the theater. Thanks to him, the repertoire of the Youth Theater includes choreographic miniatures and performances.

The touring geography of the theater is extensive.

Today, the Youth Theater repertoire includes performances for spectators of all ages. The basis of it is classical works, although modern drama plays a significant role.
