How it all started

The A380 is an aircraft that they began to develop with the following goals: expand the range of Airbus SAS products and displace Boeing-747 from the leading position. The debate about the final configuration of the aircraft ended in 2001. The first components of the A380 wing were produced in January 2002. According to initial estimates, the cost of the program ranged from 8.7 to 8.8 billion euros. After the assembly of the first aircraft, this amount increased to 11 billion (subsequently it was still increased).

It should be noted that employees of the Moscow Engineering Center Airbus ECAR made an invaluable contribution to the design of the A380F. Thanks to the efforts of Russian designers, a large amount of work was carried out to design individual parts of the fuselage, strength calculations were performed, on-board equipment was placed, and support for serial production of the aircraft was provided.
