In 1979 , the team received the title of " academic ." The theater is the only one in the Far East and Eastern Siberia that works in the genres of ballet and opera . Interesting productions and talented artists brought him fame and recognition . On its stage , more than three hundred premieres took place . The repertoire of this season has more than 30 performances .

Opera soloists and dancers have traveled to many countries, presenting their art at various festivals and competitions. In recent years, the troupe has toured in the Trans-Baikal and Altai Territories, in the Irkutsk and Tomsk Regions, in the Agin District of Buryatia, in Ukraine, in different cities of the People’s Republic of China. Everywhere artists were well received, they had great success. Critics and viewers praised the level of performances.

Today the theater carries out a number of international and all-Russian projects . He takes on his stage the collectives of other cities of Russia - organizes their tour .

And also invites artists from leading troupes of our country , including the Bolshoi and Mariinsky , to participate in performances .

Since 2011 , the director of the Opera and Ballet Theater (Ulan-Ude) is A. V. Tsybikdorzhieva. She graduated from the university in Novosibirsk . In 2007, Ayuna Vladimirovna received the position of Deputy Head for Exhibition Activities and Scientific Work at the Republican Art Museum .

A.V. Tsybikdorzhieva came to the opera and ballet theater in the 90s. She is not a new person for the team, she was already known here for many years at the time of her appointment. In 1994, she took the position of Commercial Director. The woman showed the qualities of a professional and very experienced manager. Ayuna Vladimirovna proved herself well. In 2011, she was temporarily invited to the post of theater director. They signed an agreement with her for 1 year. A. Tsybikdorzhieva coped with her duties perfectly. As a result, she passed the probationary period. In 2012, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic decided to extend the contract with it for another 5 years.
