How to draw eyes in AIS in stages

Paint tool SAI is a drawing program from Japanese developers. She gained great popularity due to its simplicity and convenience. Paint tool SAI makes it easy to work not only using a graphics tablet, but also using a conventional mouse. In this article, we will look at how to draw eyes in AIS.

Beginning of work

First you need to sketch the eyes. Then create a new layer and paint it with a background color. This color depends on the desired skin tone. Add an extra layer and select Multiply from the Transition menu. Drag the layer with the sketch up, and place the layer with the background at the very bottom. It is advisable to give them a name so as not to get confused.

Select the layer with the multiplication and apply a darker shade to the area around the eyes. Create another one under the current one and paint over the inner eye area with a light beige color close to white. You can use another light shade, but you should not use a completely white color if you want to achieve a more realistic effect.

Returning to the layer with the multiplication, paint the iris of the eye in the desired color. Then select a dark color, draw a pupil in the center, shade the upper part and the edges of the iris.

Adding Details

Continuing to draw your eyes in the AIS, apply lighter tones to the lower part of the iris. You can also add a slightly different shade close to the color of the eye. For example, if you decide to make it blue, then lilac blotches will look beautiful.

Shade the protein on top with a light gray tint. For the shadows, you can use another layer, setting the “Opacity” to 95-80%.

Creating soft lines, gradually get rid of strict sketch lines, shade the upper and lower eyelids.

Completion of drawing

Finishing drawing your eyes in the AIS, you need to add highlights and some details to the iris. To do this, you can add another top layer, and put white dots on top of the eye. A few more short strokes of a lighter color can be applied to the iris.

Draw the lower eyelashes. If desired, you can supplement the picture with details and highlights.

How to draw with the mouse in the Paint tool SAI

For convenient drawing with the mouse in AIS there is a special set of tools. To access them in Paint Tool SAI, you need to create a vector layer. After that, the following tools will become available to you:

1. Pen - allows you to create arbitrary lines.
2. Eraser - erases unnecessary items.
3. Weight - allows you to increase or decrease the thickness of the created lines.
4. Color - colors the lines in the selected color.
5. Edit - allows you to edit the created lines.
6. Pressure - makes it possible to change the thickness of the line at a certain point.
7. Curve - creates curved lines.
8. Line - allows you to draw a straight straight line.
9. Select - selects the desired area.
10. Deselect - removes the selection in a specific area.
    

Using these tools, it is very easy to draw eyes in the AIS using the mouse:

1. To do this, you first need to draw an eye contour using the Curve tool.
2. Then select the iris with the Magic Wand, create an additional layer, paint over the selected area with the desired color using the Fill tool.
3. Go back to the vector layer, select a darker shade, use the Curve to circle the top of the iris.
4. Then also select part of the iris, paint over the selected element on the color layer.
5. So, continuing to select and paint over the necessary details, you can create a beautiful drawing with the mouse.

Finishing touches in the form of highlights and details on the iris can be done on a new ordinary layer.
