Why is it better to braid onions in braids, as our ancestors did?

It starts from three "strands" - three bulbs with feathers, with twine attached to one of them. There may be more plants, the main thing is that they are divided into three bunches.
In order not to weave everything too tightly, you can twist the plants together several times, and only then add more bulbs.
All new bulbs are woven in exactly the same way. The end of the braid must be tightly tied with twine, and the extra feathers can simply be cut off. The result is a nice bunch that you can hang right in the kitchen and cut vegetables from it as needed.
By a similar principle, you can get bundles of a different kind or a “simple” braid - in this case, the bulbs should be added only to the side strands.
