Modern information technology cannot be imagined without virtualization. The fashion for creating electronic digital copies has reached its maximum: they digitize everything from natural phenomena to living creatures. The computer components themselves did not go unnoticed: a virtual disk, a virtual audio cable - all this has long become commonplace and familiar. Many in everyday work even come across a virtual computer implemented by VMware, Virtual Box, etc.
Despite this, for the bulk of users, the most popular drive emulator programs for reading CDs are the most popular. Previously, there were quite a lot of them: Virtual CD, CD Emulator from Paragon, Virtual Drive, Alcohol 120% and Daemon Tools. Currently, it can be argued that the invisible confrontation won the Daemon Tools (DT) emulation application. But all the good things have a downside as well, so itās quite clear that for new users, the question āhow to disconnect a virtual diskā began to appear.
When installing DT, it creates a virtual drive in the operating system and assigns a letter to it. Then everything is simple: through the program interface we insert the disk image into the virtual drive and work with the image as with a regular compact. Everything seems to be clear. But very often, newcomers, out of ignorance, create unnecessary virtual drives in the system and start looking for an answer on how to remove a virtual disk. This does not affect performance, but if the hard drive itself is divided into several logical partitions, a hardware drive is installed, and here a few more virtual ones are added - it's time to get lost.
There are several solutions to this problem. We will consider them along the way by answering the question āhow to remove a virtual diskā. The easiest way is to use the tools of the program that created such a disk. In our case, this is DT.
Click the "Start" button and look for Daemon Tools in the list. We launch the application. The main program window appears, divided into two: the catalog of images at the top, and the created virtual drives at the bottom. Select the extra one with a click, press the right mouse button. How to remove a virtual disk here? Very simple! In the menu that appears, there is the option āDelete Driveā. That's all.
The second option differs in choosing a menu item. We follow in "Parameters". In the drop-down list āDrive letterā select āNot installedā.
The third option helps to understand how to remove a virtual disk in Daemon Tools. Select the excess by clicking the left mouse button and click on the icon with the image of the drive and the red cross (a prompt appears - āDelete virtual driveā). Repeat the steps for all unnecessary devices. You can remove everything. Subsequently adding them is just as easy.
If for some reason it is impossible to use the programās tools, then you can remove the virtual disk using the tools of the Windows system. Right-click on the properties of the āMy Computerā desktop icon. In its absence, we follow in āStartā - āMy Computerā - āPropertiesā. Next, on the left, select the link in the āDevice Managerā. We open the list of drives and on the virtual drive select "Properties - Disable" (do not confuse with the physical device). At any time, everything can be returned by clicking "Engage".
A similar option:
Select the properties āMy Computerā and follow the item āManagementā. Here in the storage devices we are looking for the ability to manage disks. We call the menu (right button) of the virtual drive and follow the "properties". Next is the āDriverā tab and the āDisableā button. So simple.
As has been repeatedly indicated, with the indicated shutdown methods, you can (if necessary) very quickly return everything back. But if you completely uninstall from the DT operating system, the virtual disk will disappear permanently (before reinstalling the program).
