The production and use of steel enameled sinks with one bowl began a long time ago, but despite the fact that the product has lost some popularity, sinks remain in demand today. They differ in their features, have a lot of advantages and are characterized by certain disadvantages, which remain to be found in the framework of the article.
The design and features of the sink
The steel enameled sink is structurally simple enough: it is made of steel or cast iron and can have a rectangular, round or complex shape. On the rear wall of the product there is a hole for mounting the mixer, on the side there is a hole for overflow, and in the bottom for draining water into a siphon.
Few people donβt know what kind of reaction steel or cast iron comes into contact with when in active contact with water - this is a favorable environment for the development of corrosion, which leads to rapid wear of the product. To avoid this effect, the surface of the shell is coated with enamel: oil, alkyd or polymer.
Such sinks are better than others for kitchens, as they are highly durable and reliable, which is invaluable in conditions of active use. Just think, in a kitchen sink, ceramics and other dishes, metal utensils are rinsed. In view of this, any drop can cause a crack or chips on the faience of the sink, and the steel enameled sink does not have such a disadvantage.
The design of the sink includes from one to three bowls with additional compartments and parts, significantly increasing functionality and ease of use.
GOST
Enamelled steel sinks according to GOST 23695-94 are available in two main variations: with a kitchen cabinet mounted on a countertop or wall mounted. For these purposes, a special bracket is required, with which the installation of the structure is carried out.
The benefits of kitchen sinks
Despite the progress in the production of kitchen sinks, enameled products still have not lost their relevance, although they are not as popular as in the 90s. This fact is explained by the presence of a mass of advantages of products, among which:
- a bowl made of thick-walled steel, characterized by strength and the ability to withstand virtually any load;
- the possibility of manufacturing products of any shape and size;
- the possibility of using a variety of enamels and decals, allowing you to create all kinds of colors, cover the shells with drawings or patterns;
- low price for products;
- easy to assemble and fix do-it-yourself steel enameled sinks;
- easy care of the product.
Some disadvantages of sinks
Of the most significant disadvantages of devices of this class are:
- Use for the production of corrosive material - steel or cast iron.
- Wear of enamel, even of the highest quality, occurs much faster than steel.
- Dropping dishes into the bowl leads to the formation of cracks and chips on the surface of the coating.
The steel enameled sink for the kitchen is a class of plumbing that is quite acceptable for operation, characterized by durability, low cost and a wide range of products.
