There, for 5 years, he held the position of chief director in the theater of a young spectator. Then he changed his job again. From 2000 to 2005, he was the main director in the youth theater of the city of Kazan. Then he returned to the Omsk Drama Theater. Since 2009 he has been the main director here. The first performance he staged after taking up this post was Three Girls in Blue. The performances of Georgy Zurabovich constantly take part in prestigious festivals and competitions not only of Russian, but also of international scale. In 2003 G. Tskhvirava was nominated for the Golden Mask.
Laboratory
The Omsk State Academic Drama Theater organized at its base a laboratory of modern drama. Here, creative experiments and searches are carried out. Spectators in performances are interested not only in eternal values, he wants to see the problems of the modern world on stage. When choosing a play, you need to focus on what the modern public wants. At the same time, the process of creating performances should be creativity, not a stamping of something that will certainly bring profit, but will not allow the theater to develop.
The laboratory allows you to test your capabilities, set difficult tasks and solve them. Directors, playwrights and actors gather here. Together they are trying to find a way to best translate the idea into the scene. When a playwright creates a play, he plays it in the imagination. The director, after reading it, develops the idea of embodiment. Actors endow characters with flesh and voice. But not everything that the playwright wrote can possibly be shown on stage as he intended. The director may have a point of view on the embodiment of the play opposite to that which the author has. The director takes part of the plot into the play and gets rid of the text, which he considers unacceptable for the scene. When creating images, actors can endow characters with character traits that are not in the play.
The performance is the result of the efforts of all, which means that it is necessary to work on it harmoniously. You can see the advantages and disadvantages of staging only on stage. For these reasons, theaters rarely decide on new plays, preferring the classics. The laboratory serves as an experimental scene. Here, playwrights, actors and directors bring together all the components of the future performance. Create sketch designs. Then analyze and correct errors. Thanks to the work of the laboratory, 5 plays by contemporary unknown authors have been staged.
