Rechargeable batteries for tablets do not change very often, and there are few reasons for this. In most cases, the owner changes the battery in order to increase the battery life of the device or due to a breakdown of the energy element itself.
Consider the most common reasons why users buy and change to new batteries for the tablet. It will be about ordinary mobile gadgets, with the exception of new-fashioned iPads and other hard-to-open flagship devices that are serviced only in service workshops.
Reasons to replace the battery for your tablet:
- complete or partial failure of the battery (as a rule, due to voltage drops);
- mechanical damage to the element;
- insufficient battery life;
- natural battery wear.
The most relevant reason is when an element partially or completely fails. It was then that the owner faced the question of replacing the battery. There are many types of batteries for a tablet, but the user does not have to have any specific skills in mechanics or electronics to complete this procedure.
We check the battery
The first thing to do is check that the item is really not working. The most accurate diagnosis in this case is a special tester, but if it was not at hand, the verification using the usual methods will work.
Symptoms of battery breakdowns:
- the gadget does not charge even with a working memory and normal connectors (many tablets suffer from this);
- battery charging takes longer than usual;
- the device recharges too quickly and sits just as quickly;
- incorrect indication of the remaining charge;
- The gadget does not turn on.
Separately, it is worth mentioning another symptom that is very common among devices on the Android OS.
Battery Availability Issues
There are frequent cases when the battery is not at all to blame for the inoperability of the tablet. Sometimes the gadget simply "does not see" the battery. This issue is especially relevant for the Nexus rulers running the Android platform, although apple devices sometimes commit such a flaw.
This happens for one simple reason: the device went into sleep mode, and the tablet’s battery power slowly melted while it “slept”. And no matter how long the gadget then recharges, it will still not be able to turn on. This symptom is sometimes indicated by flickering pixels or the entire screen at the time the device is connected to the charger.
Solve the problem
In this case, buying new batteries for the tablet, of course, is not necessary, it is enough to perform a “rough reboot”. In almost any instruction manual, you can find a key combination that is responsible for a similar start to the gadget.
If there are no such instructions, you can see the detailed manual on the device manufacturer’s website. As a rule, this is a simple combination: hold the volume rocker up and hold the power key for 10-15 seconds. Further, after the start menu appears, you need to select the item “Power off Device”. Then you need to connect the gadget to charge and after 5-10 minutes try to turn it on. Everything should work.
Battery Replacement
The main thing here is to figure out which battery your tablet needs. Immediately it is worth noting that prejudices like "the battery should be similar to the original" - this is nonsense. You can install absolutely any element on your device, but naturally, with certain reservations. The main parameters that must be clearly observed in our case are the voltage of the battery and sometimes its exact dimensions.
For such devices, you can count only two standards for voltage:
- 3.7 V - for 5-volt networkers;
- 7.4 V - for 9/12-volt devices.
It should also be noted that the higher the mAh indicator (milliampere-hour), the longer your device will work. Some manufacturers use a parallel connection of several batteries for a higher level of autonomy (very often found in Sony models).
What's under the hood
In almost all tablets, the display controller is built into the battery itself, with rare exceptions, it can be located on the device itself (in older models of gadgets). It is almost impossible to mix up wires: black / white is a minus, and red is a plus. Blue or green layering is intended for output to the connector. In very rare cases, the device is equipped with two "pluses", and this was noticed only in exclusive products from Apple and Sony.
Be that as it may, all the subtleties of the distribution of the poles are indicated in the technical manual, which, as mentioned above, can be easily found on the official website of the manufacturer of your device, if one was not included.
As for the dismantling of the cover itself, in most cases both parts of the gadget are attached with double-sided tape, and only rare flagship models are equipped with ornate fasteners or special strips for disassembly.
