Azur Air Airlines is one of the small Russian carriers. The company's field of activity is the implementation of air travel from Russian settlements to popular tourist destinations abroad of a seasonal nature.
History
Airline Azur Air is a low-cost domestic charter carrier. It is based at the major Russian airport Domodedovo and is part of the Anex Tourism Group holding company.
In the field of civil aviation, it appeared not so long ago - in December 2014. It appeared on the basis of the Katekavia company, and its area of specialization was air transportation in the Volga and Siberian regions.
The entire former Katekavia fleet was transferred to Turukhan. The first own aircraft, the Boeing 757-200, was also received by Azur Air in 2014. In the same year, on December 17, the first flight to the Sharm el-Sheikh airport was made.
During 2015, the fleet was increased to 14 aircraft. Until 2015, Azur Air was a subsidiary of UTair domestic airline. But in March of that year, the latter completely sold Katekavia shares, and the company became independent. Last fall, the name of the legal entity was renamed and the existing operator certificate was replaced.
Since February 2016, Azur Air has received admission from the Federal Agency “Rosaviation” to regular flights on international routes.
Air accidents
The only accident in the history of the company’s existence took place on February 26, 2016. A Boeing 767-type aircraft flying from Moscow-Phuket from the capital’s Domodedovo Airport made an emergency landing at the Tashkent airfield. According to the preliminary version, the cause could be the activation of the engine oil level sensor.

The airline operates two American-made Boeing aircraft - 767-300 and 757-200. The average period of their operation is no more than 18 years.
Boeing 757-200 is a medium-range passenger airliner. In the fleet, it is present in the amount of 9 units. The oldest of them (age 22 years) has a tail number VQBKF. The youngest aircraft (age 13 years) has a tail number VQBEY. All aircraft of this type in the cabin have 238 economy-class passenger seats.
Boeing 767-300 is a long-range passenger airliner. Present in the company's fleet in the amount of 5 units. The oldest aircraft is 20 years old (tail number VQBUO). The youngest airliner is 17 years old (tail number VQBUP). The aircraft cabin of this modification is designed to carry 336 passengers with a layout with one service class.
This year, the planned replenishment of the fleet with one Boeing 737-800 aircraft is expected.
