Units from students did not resort to such tricks as cheating or procuring cribs. And this is not surprising, because sometimes the amount of material that needs to be learned is simply not comparable with free time.
If in the old days people wrote cribs on scraps of paper on their own using small print, which took a lot of time, nowadays there is a wonderful Word program that can do this in a matter of minutes. In this article, we will tell you how to make cheat sheets in Word so that they are as compact as possible and perfectly readable.
goal
Before telling you how to make cheat sheets in Word, you should make a small remark and explain the main goal, that is, what we need to do.
First and foremost, it is necessary to fit the desired text on an A4 sheet so that it has a maximum of useful information and takes up little space. For this, standard program tools will be used.
Step 1: split the sheet into columns
If you do not know how to make cheat sheets in Word, then initially you need to break A4 sheet into columns. Their number may vary depending on your preferences, but it is important that their size is as small as possible.
As an example, we will use the text from Wikipedia, which undoubtedly has a lot of superfluous. You will clearly understand how to format the text so that, as a result, the cribs you made in Word are miniature.
So, to break the sheet into columns, you must use the tool of the same name. It is located in the tab "Layout". There, in the "Page Setup" toolbar, click on the "Columns" button and select "Other Columns" from the drop-down menu.
A window will appear in which you need to set the column parameters. Opposite the "Number of columns" field, it is recommended to set the value to "6", but in the end it can change. Do not forget to also check the box next to "Separator" so that there are lines between the columns, along which in the future you will cut the paper. Set the width to 2.99 cm and the gap to 0.1 cm. Finally, be sure to check the "columns of the same width" box and click the "OK" button.
Now you can observe how your text, previously inserted into the document, broke into six equal columns.
Step 2: change the fields
Looking at the document, you can see that there is a rather large indent on the sides, which is desirable to remove, since it takes up a lot of space on the sheet, which subsequently appears on the number of cut out cheat sheets.
These margins are called fields and their distance can be changed, which we will do now.
Being on the same tab โLayoutโ, click on the โFieldsโ button, which is located in the โPage Setupโ tool group. After clicking, a menu opens in which you need to select "Custom Fields".
A window will appear in which it is possible to independently set the distance of the indents along the edges. Since we need compactness, it will be logical to set the very minimum value in all fields, that is, "0.2 cm". In the "Fields" area, enter this value in the "Upper", "Left", "Lower", "Right" input field and click the "OK" button.
Step 3: change text formatting
The final step will now be presented on how to make cheat sheets in Word. It remains only to throw out the excess from the text and correct its formatting.
First of all, let's change the font and its size. This is done on the "Home" tab in the "Font" section. You can see the exact location of these tools in the image below.
The font is advised to put Arial, and its size is "6". Before that, do not forget to select all the text using the keys CTRL + A.
Also, for compact text, it is worth changing the spacing between lines. To do this, in the next column "Paragraph" click on the appropriate button and select "1,0".
As a result, review your document and remove unnecessary from it: pictures, numbered and bulleted lists, as well as all unnecessary information.
Now you know how to make a cheat sheet in Word, as you can see, this activity saves time many times as opposed to manual writing.
