Have you ever thought about what will happen if a simple person from the people becomes president? Honest and incorruptible, maybe even a teacher ... It was to this question that the entire creative team of the Studio Quarter 95 tried to answer, bringing to the audience the series “Servant of the People”.
Actors become ministers
It’s no secret that the “Kvartalovtsev” humor is built on a satire about modern life with all its problems, from family relationships to corrupt politicians. No less topical is the "Servant of the people." The actors and roles were so vivid that they are remembered literally from the first minutes. And if at first the project was conceived as a sitcom, then in the process of writing the script and the shootings themselves, the general idea turned into a slightly lyrical, political and social film. And the key roles of the ministers (with the exception of the prime minister) were played by colleagues on the stage and friends in life - the actors of the Kvartal 95 troupe. And they coped with this very successfully. However, we’ll tell you more about the plot.
From teachers to president
So, Vasily Petrovich Goloborodko is a simple history teacher. Honest and a little naive. In the middle of the lesson, his students are suddenly taken to install voting booths. This turned out to be the last straw in the chalice of his patience, and Vasily Petrovich expressed to the Trudovik everything that had begun to boil, and without hesitation in expressions. And about the conflicts of interest of the oligarchs, and about the "election in the booths", including corruption. In a word, about everything that Ukraine is “sick with”. Which was filmed by one of his students on a mobile phone and posted on the Internet.
Having suddenly become a YouTube star, by a fairy tale coincidence, Vasily Petrovich woke up once as the new president of Ukraine. They are waiting for him and the fight against corruption, and the problems of "covert" (and sometimes nightly) voting, and the people’s rejection of his reforms, and even misunderstanding on the part of his family ... However, despite all the difficulties and to the best of his ability, he leads the country to bright future.
Looking ahead, we note that, having broken all records of popularity among television products, the first season of the series “Servant of the People” (the actors and the roles they play will be considered a little later) ends with a happy ending. Despite the political theme of history, the series can be safely attributed to the genre of lyrical comedy with all human relationships.
From the history of creation
The story of an honest president was invented long ago. The image of an intelligent teacher was compiled from the school memories of the whole team. Having absorbed the best qualities of all the familiar teachers of the authors of the series, Vasily Petrovich turned out to be a kind of intellectual from the people who are trying to figure everything out in honor and justice, but at the same time he is not ready to “work for the public”. This story turned out to be so vital that all the actors of the series “Servant of the People” worked with full dedication and, as it turned out, with pleasure. Which affected the final result.
"Servant of the people." Actors and favorite roles
The main role of the rebel teacher went to Vladimir Zelensky, the leading comedian and showman of the country, as well as the permanent leader of the Kvartal 95 studio. He is also one of the producers and authors of the idea of this series. And it is worth recognizing that the touching character of the intellectual reformer was a success. It is interesting to observe not only how he struggles with a completely rotten system, but also his relationship with his son (it so happened that Vasily Petrovich divorced his wife, which did not affect his love for his child).
But the role of the Prime Minister and the gray cardinal of the political life of the country went to the theater and film actor Stanislav Boklan, who is the national artist of Ukraine. The cunning and resourcefulness of his character can only be compared with the versatility of the artist, who embodied the image on the screen. Note that the role turned out so vibrant and vibrant that it immediately found a place in the heart of the viewer.
The ex-wife of the president was played by Elena Kravets, Zelensky’s colleague in the scene. Having become the head of the National Bank of Ukraine, she still adores her son and dreams of ordinary family happiness. And she was even ready to return to Vasily Petrovich, because she, as she herself said, “at least knows what to expect from him.”
Another bright character in the series is Defense Minister Ivan Skorik (Alexander Pekalov). At one time, he was not afraid to remove the wheels from the jeep of the commander of a military unit, in order to buy berets for soldiers with the proceeds. Having become a minister, he did not depart from his principles and began by reducing the staff of generals by four times.
Well, as without the president’s parents? They were famous Ukrainian theater and cinema artists Nataliya Sumskaya and Viktor Saraykin. Mother is a teacher, and father is engaged in private carriage (or, as he calls himself, a “service worker”). The president’s sister Svetlana (actress Ekaterina Kisten) and his niece Natasha (Anna Koshmal, known for her role as Zhenya in the TV series “Matchmakers”) also live with them.
Unfortunately, you cannot describe each memorable character, although they deserve it. The series “Servant of the people” (actors and roles, as the audience themselves noted, everything in its place) absorbed all the problems that ordinary people live, and therefore was greeted with great warmth.
