UTair - one of the largest airlines in Russia, was founded back in 1967. In addition to passenger and cargo air transportation, the company is engaged in aircraft maintenance and personnel training. By March 2017, UTair has a fleet of about 70 ships and is in third place among Russian airlines. The airline has the world's largest helicopter fleet.
Airline Information
The first mention of the airline dates back to 1967, when the Tyumen Civil Aviation Authority was created. And only in 1991, the Civil Aviation Administration was disbanded, the airline Tyumenaviatrans was created. In 2002, there was a rebranding and the airline was named UTair. At that time, UTair fleet consisted of only a few aircraft. They were used for domestic air transportation, mainly in Siberia.
The hub airport for UTair is Moscow Vnukovo, and the headquarters of the leadership is in Surgut.
Flight geography
UTair has a large fleet of aircraft and allows both domestic and international flights. In Russia, the airline operates flights to the Far East, Siberia and the European part of the country. Every day about 300 flights are carried out. The main directions: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, as well as Kiev, Minsk, Baku, Vilnius.
International flights are carried out to such countries as Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, China, Thailand and others. There are also charter tourist flights to popular resorts.
Despite the fact that the airline is not a low-cost carrier, ticket prices are very affordable. Even economy class flights already include baggage and carry-on baggage, as well as food and drinks on board.
The main goal of the airline is to achieve a high level in passenger service and transportation of goods, as well as maintaining competitiveness in the air transportation market.
UTair Air Fleet (2016)
In 2014, the airline was in a difficult financial situation, in connection with which most of the aircraft had to be sold. In 2012, the company owned 228 aircraft, and at the beginning of 2017 only 68 remained. According to the management, the reduction in the fleet and, as a result, the reduction in leasing payments should have saved the company from bankruptcy.
Despite the fact that after 2014 UTair Airlines did not have such a large fleet, it was able to rehabilitate itself. Thanks to the state support program, she received about 9.5 billion rubles. And already in 2015, it came out of losses and made a profit of 2.5 billion rubles. There was an increase in passenger traffic. In 2016, UTair carried about 3 million passengers, which is 14% more than in the previous year.
Most of the fleet consists of Boeing 737 of various modifications, and there are also several Boeing 767-200ER, ATR 72-500, An-2 and An-74 aircraft.
Activities
UTair is engaged in both scheduled and charter flights. In addition, a VIP transportation service is provided.
In the ranking of punctuality of Russian airlines in 2016, UTair took second place. In January 2017, the company carried about 500 thousand passengers, which is a third more than the previous year for the same period.

Recently, a tendency has begun around the world to assign the names of prominent figures in various fields to passenger aircraft. UTair has an original fleet of aircraft. So, the aircraft are named after Soviet scientists, party leaders and participants in the Great Patriotic War.
Positive dynamics
The aircraft fleet is planned to be updated by the end of 2018 - the beginning of 2019. It is not known exactly which aircraft will replenish the airline fleet. It is assumed that this will be the Airbus A321 and Boeing 737-NG, which were supposed to update the fleet back in 2016.
Given the stable development of the airline, perhaps in the near future 10 out of 20 long-haul aircraft will be available to UTair.
On the official websites of aircraft manufacturers, orders for the supply of 20 Airbus A321 and 30 Boeing 737 series of various modifications are not fulfilled.
The airline launched the tariff "Light". Now tickets to most destinations can be bought at a 50% discount. This tariff does not apply to all dates and times of departure, and also does not apply on holidays and weekends.
