all works of Dostoevsky list

First novel

All the works of Dostoevsky (we’ll start the list by mentioning the book that made him famous in literary circles) demonstrate the author’s versatile talent. We are talking about the novel "Poor People", created in 1846. This book is interesting in that it is written in the epistolary genre. The main character, Makar Devushkin, is in correspondence with the girl he is in love with, but does not dare to admit to her his feelings, as he is older. Moreover, he believes that he is not worthy of her, although she reciprocates him.

Dostoevsky’s poems

With this form of narration, Fyodor Dostoevsky was able to convey in great detail and reliably the feelings of his heroes. “Poor People” is a novel that was highly praised by the famous critic V. Belinsky.

He opened the way for the young writer to the literary world and made his name known to the general reader.

Humorous story

The author did not want to dwell on the drama genre and tried himself in a variety of styles. He wrote not only prose, but also composed poems. In addition, after the first novel was published, he decided to create a comic work in the form of correspondence of heroes. So the novel “The Nine Letters” was born - a humorous story that was published in 1847 in the journal Sovremennik. This work is the correspondence of two cheaters, each of whom seeks to deceive a partner.

The writer imitated Gogol, choosing both similar names and endowing each with characteristic features. One of them is delicate and polite, the second - on the contrary, rude and straightforward. However, in the end, both turned out to be deceived by their mutual friend. All the works of Dostoevsky, the list of which includes not only dramatic and tragic, but also humorous compositions, show him as a subtle observer and an outstanding thinker.

"Humiliated and offended"

This was the first major work written by the author after returning from exile. It was published in 1861. Criticism met him very restrained, except for the magazine Sovremennik, which praised the plot and the characters. The narration is conducted on behalf of the first person - a young writer Ivan, in which autobiographical features of the author are guessed.
