MHT format: what to open

In this article we will talk about how to open MHT, but first it is worth explaining what kind of format it is. In short, it is a web page format of sites. That is, it is formed by saving web content by the browser. You can both create it in browsers and open them using them. Only the second case will be considered in the article.

First program: Internet Explorer

Perhaps the story of how to open the MHT extension, it would be wise to start with a program that is installed on almost every user - with Internet Explorer. So, to open the file you will need:

1. Run the program and activate the menu if it is not activated. This is done by pressing RMB on the panel and selecting the menu bar item.
2. It is necessary to click on the "File" button and select "Open". You can also perform this action by pressing Ctrl + O.
3. The "Opening" window will open, in which click the "Browse" button.
4. In the "Explorer" window that appears, open the directory with the MHT file and select the desired file.
5. The path to it will appear in the "Opening" window. Click OK.

As soon as you do this, a saved webpage will open in your browser before that.

The second program: Yandex.Browser

Continuing the story of how to open MHT, we go to the browser from Yandex.

1. Unfortunately, this browser does not have a separate menu where you can select the "Open" option, as in Internet Explorer, so you have to use the Ctrl + O hot keys.
2. After clicking them, the "Explorer" window will open. In it you need to pave the path to the MHT file, and then click the "Open" button.
3. After the done actions, the saved page of the site will appear in the browser window.

This could end the story about Yandex.Browser, but there is another way to open this format. To implement it, you need to open a browser, and then "Explorer" and find in it the folder with the file. All that remains to be done after that is to drag the file into the browser window with the mouse. Now you know one more way than opening MHT.

Third program: Google Chrome

Google Chrome is one of the most popular browsers, so it would be strange if it did not have the ability to open MHT files. We proceed directly to the instructions.

1. As in the case of Yandex.Browser, in Chrome there is no separate menu where you could launch the Explorer window, so again you need to use the Ctrl + O hotkeys.
2. The "Open" window will appear. In it, go to the folder with the file of the web page, select it and click "Open."

That's all, now you know the third way than opening MHT, namely Google Chrome.

Fourth Way: Mozilla Firefox

Unfortunately, this program does not have built-in tools for opening MHT files, so you will first need to install the appropriate extension, for this:

1. Open the "Menu Bar" by clicking on the top of the PCM browser and selecting the item of the same name.
2. In the panel that appears, click on "Tools" and select "Add-ons."
3. A side panel will open in which you need to click on the first icon.
4. You will be taken to the extension search page, enter UnMHT in the search bar and click on the green arrow next to it.
5. In the list of extensions found, select the one you are looking for.
6. Click the "Add to Firefox" button.
7. In the pop-up window, click "Install."

Now you need to select "Open File" in the "File" menu and specify the location of the MHL file in "Explorer", after which it will be opened. This was the fourth way to open the MHT format.
