At the beginning of this year, the BQ brand launched three brand new models from the Strike series on the mobile gadget market - 5057, 5058 and 5059. In all these devices, they focused on battery life and a more than affordable pricing policy. We will review the reviews and specifications of the BQ Strike Power with an index of 5059, i.e. the oldest model. According to experts, it is she who is the most balanced in terms of “price / quality” and has already managed to appeal to fans of the brand (and not only).
So, the hero of today's review is the 5059-BQ Strike Power smartphone. Specifications, reviews, prices, as well as the appropriateness of buying the device will be discussed in this article.
Contents of delivery
The device comes in an attractive box made of cardboard with a bright design, where red prevails. The BQ Strike Power gadget itself is shown on the front of the package, and the specifications and reviews (random) are on the back. The latter, by the way, are clearly custom-made, so you should not take them into account, but familiarizing yourself with the specification will not hurt.
Completeness:
- Smartphone itself Bright Quick BQ 5059 Strike Power;
- network charger for 220 V;
- micro-USB cable for charging and synchronization with a PC;
- headset
- manual
- guarantee.
The package bundle is basic, so you won’t see any covers, adapters, or any other “chips” there. But this is not a big deal: each individual accessory adds weight to the device, and we seem to have a budget option. In any case, you can use the smartphone “out of the box”, and everything else to buy to your taste and color.
Appearance
The device has three colors - black, gold and silver. If we take into account the style of the back cover with its specific texture, then the last two colors look most profitable, but on the classic it is simply invisible.
The gadget turned out to be neat and quite attractive: rounded corners, a relatively thin body and good ergonomics. All the main controls are within reach, and the device itself does not strive to slip out of hands.
The back cover sits tightly in the grooves, but does not require much effort to remove. Inside is a non-removable battery, two slots for an external SD drive and a SIM card. The latter, by the way, supports the "hot" replacement. Owners in their reviews of the BQ Strike Power 5059 have repeatedly complained about a non-removable battery. Yes, this solution has its undeniable advantages, but a good half of users prefer universal and replaceable batteries, so for many this moment became critical at the time of purchase.
Design features
The back cover itself is polished and made of an inexpensive metal alloy. The upper and lower ends are made of plastic, but this is for the better, because there are no problems with the operation of wireless modules and the reception of cellular communications.
On the right side is the volume rocker and the gadget shutdown button, and the left is devoid of any interfaces. At the top there is a micro-USB output with support for OTG-peripherals and a classic “mini-jack” for 3.5 mm headphones. On the bottom there is a small hole for the microphone.
The rear side is occupied by a camera peephole, angled, an LED flash and a speaker grill at the bottom. Looking at the reviews and specifications of BQ Strike Power, we can say that the volume level of the speakers is average. Users note comfortable work in a small room, but in noisy rooms, audibility is noticeably reduced, and you can easily miss a call.
The lower front part is occupied by three touch buttons in a geometric style, that is, a triangle, a circle and a square. It is disappointing that the controls are devoid of backlighting, so you have to work blindly in the dark. On top is a peephole selfie camera and speaker grille.
Judging by the reviews and specifications, the BQ Strike Power has a good build. No creaks, backlashes and crunches were noticed, and the rear panel does not push through under the pressure of the fingers.
Screen
The device has a five-inch screen running on an IPS-matrix. In addition, the display is assembled using OGS technology, which means it is more responsive and soft. The matrix gives a pretty good HD-resolution in the development of 1280 by 720 pixels.
The output image is more or less believable with a juicy image and good contrast. Users in their reviews note a too modest indicator of maximum brightness, so working with the gadget on a sunny day is a real problem.
As for viewing angles, this is all right with the device: the capabilities of the matrix allow you to easily watch a video or look through photos in the company of one or two friends. Text information is perceived well, and pixelation does not blur text.
Performance
The budget processor from Mediatek MT6580 series, running on four cores, is responsible for performance. The Mali accelerator of the 400 MP2 series copes with the visual component. The device received 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal.
The interface does not slow down or lag during operation. Problems begin when you launch serious modern applications. 1 GB of RAM is clearly not enough for "heavy" toys, so you have to reset the graphics settings to a minimum, provided that the game generally starts. The internal memory can be expanded with external SD cards, so there are no problems.
Platform
The gadget works on the Android platform of the seventh version, and without any add-ons and shells. For this, special thanks to the brand, which listened to user reviews and did not put the branded BQ mobile software on the BQ 5059 Strike Power. Well, to all those who liked this shell, you can use the same Google Play and install it.
Of course, there were some affiliate applications like Yandex Browser, games with a hard donat and online stores, but it’s good that all this “garbage” can be removed without problems.
Battery life
BQ 5059 Strike Power is a phone with a capacious battery. Not every smartphone of the budget segment boasts a 5000 mAh battery. Even despite the gluttonous Android platform, the battery capacity is enough for a couple of days of daily work, while competing counterparts are asking for an outlet by the end of the first day.
If you properly load the device with "heavy" games or an HD stream, then the battery will last for almost the whole day (about 8 hours). During charging, the gadget does not heat up, and the recharging itself (up to 100% from 0) will take about 5 hours.
Summarizing
The BQ 5059 Strike Power is a pretty good solution for the budget segment. Here you need to understand that you don’t have to demand much from such gadgets, and some critical shortcomings are more than offset by a small price.
Model 5059 is perfect not only as an additional “dialer”, but also as a self-contained smartphone if you are an undemanding user for whom modern and serious applications with games, as well as a photo component, are not the main thing.
Surfing the Web, watching videos and photos, music, radio, average toys and, of course, stable communication - all this can be a smartphone, and very good at that. And you can close your eyes at modest performance, mediocre cameras and a screen blinding in the sun, looking at the cost of the device and the capabilities of competing analogues in this sector.
Advantages of the model:
- capacious battery;
- stable operation of the interface and undemanding applications;
- good build;
- nice appearance.
Disadvantages:
- a modest set of chipsets;
- mediocre cameras;
- lack of an LTE module.
Estimated cost - about 6500 rubles.
