Some historical facts
A powerful and heavy-looking machine with a length of more than 70 meters on the ground seems clumsy and slow. Deceptive impression. Having made its first flight in the late eighties of the last century, it revolutionized air transportation, embodying all the very best of the time. The latest technologies have allowed pilots to make the farthest flights (more than 13 thousand km) in the most equipped cockpits of the 747-400 airliner. The cabin layout, of course, the most thought out, allowed to exceed the maximum existing passenger capacity and transport about 600 people at a time with a cruising speed of more than 900 km / h.
After spending some time at the zenith of fame, the manufacturer of the most popular modification of the Boeing family of aircraft began to lose ground to competitors. More economical cars appeared on the market. The production of the 700-400 series airliners ended in 2007, but they are still widely operated by many airlines around the world.
From Sheremetyev to Vnukovo
The Russian company Transaero, the only one that had twenty passenger cars of this class in its fleet, was one of the leading carriers in the country until the fall of 2015. After the declared bankruptcy, part of the machines was acquired by Aeroflot Group for a subsidiary. Rossiya Airlines took over the route network and several Transaero 747-400 airliners. The scheme of the cabin suggested three options for placing seats; it was possible to invite 447, 461 and 522 people on board, respectively. More than half of the cars were equipped with the latter option.
Today, Rossiya Airlines, like the previous owner, is the only owner of this type of aircraft in the country. The operational life of the machines is from 15 to 18 years. Its main base is located at Pulkovo Airport (St. Petersburg), the nodal airport - in Vnukovo.
Seat selection
For the convenience of passengers, the new owner of Boeing 747-400 aircraft has remained unchanged in the layout of the Transaero cabin.
Preparing for the flight in advance involves studying the location of seats and choosing the most comfortable for you. Most often, you have to be content with your own experience, choosing a chair at the beginning or at the tail of the plane, near a window or near the aisle. Looking for an opportunity to stretch your legs, but away from the toilet. If you fly just a couple of hours, it almost does not matter. But with a many-hour flight, namely on such routes, a giant liner is used, I want to get in the cabin with comfort.

Increased economy
This is the term by which the owner characterizes the economy seats located immediately behind the business salon. Due to their isolation, the definition of “comfortable” can be attributed to them. And the most comfortable row in this group, N 121, out of six seats, divides the business and economy rows on the Boeing 747-400. The scheme of the cabin, the best seats of which are sold much cheaper than business class tickets, indicates the peculiarity of its position. Separated from the vip-salon with a curtain, it has a large, free space in front of it.
An exception in this group is the last row. Three seats on the left side of the aircraft in the 124th row are located next to the stairs, and the 125th row seats are located close to the toilet room.
