Nowadays, people are increasingly becoming supporters of cosmopolitan views that were previously condemned. Nevertheless, now you can also notice a fairly clear division in the sphere of worldview that relates to the sources.
Different opinions
For some, of great importance is not only a large, but also a small homeland. This is a patriotic attitude to the land, to one’s country, to the city and the region in which a person was born.
Others do not have such attachment and consider their home the whole world or the place where they happened to live by the will of fate. It is not our task to determine which views are better. What is based on feelings, on perception and, by and large, depends on the people around us, on upbringing, is weakly amenable to rational comprehension. But just a small homeland is a native city, district, courtyard, that is, places with which we are emotionally connected. This is a school and neighbors, these are favorite corners - parks, alleys, groves, where a person felt comfortable, where he dreamed about the future, where he was formed as a person.
What is a small homeland?
You can argue for a long time about how the surrounding nature and environment influence the character and attitudes. For most of us, a small homeland is a place that evokes nostalgic memories, which is always associated with a house, with a family. With what is perceived positively, with a touch of sadness. A small homeland is both a matter of concern and an object of human attachment. When cleaning the yard or developing the hometown, we show love for this place. And this is much more effective (also in terms of upbringing) than abstract discussions about patriotism and why a big and small homeland should always cause love and worship. Should not. And even more so, it cannot become a political bargaining chip. But, as the poet said, “love of fatherly tombs” always responds to a person. Patriotism is that feeling that is formed in childhood and which then becomes part of the worldview.
The concept of "small homeland", although it is firmly connected with a specific territory, with a certain corner of the globe, is much more defined by people around. Whether a person has a feeling of home, attachment to him, depends on the family and parents. In addition, personal responsibility for the outside world is also formed in childhood. If a person is well, comfortable, if he is accustomed by adults to the fact that much also depends on his activities, he will take care to preserve and equip this small corner of the earth. For him, a small homeland is not just a place where he was born and raised. It evokes nostalgic memories, a nagging feeling of sadness, a desire to care and perfect. For him, the proverb "Where he was born, there he fit."
But the formation of an emotional attitude towards a small homeland takes place in each of us in our own way. Some do not imagine life away from home, from relatives. Others, on the contrary, seek to break out of the environment where they grew up, leave and settle in a new place. For them, the house is where people close to them in spirit are located, and not where they were born. However, we can safely say that in patriotic feelings, a small homeland is the most significant image. Unlike the abstract concept of homeland in general, which can be formed using literary works, films, folk culture, for each of us it is associated with family, childhood friends, beloved corners.
