Initially, the airport of Yekaterinburg was called Sverdlovsk. It was formed on the basis of the Koltsovo military airfield in 1943. The terminal building itself was commissioned in 1954. Also during this period, a hotel was built near the airport. Until 1984, only one runway was operational, and after the second one was built, which made it possible to receive wide-body aircraft.
In 2009, the runway was rebuilt; in the same year, a new terminal was rebuilt. From this moment, the airport can accept all types of airliners. Yekaterinburg Airport began accepting international flights since 1993. Since 2004 it has been included in the top ten airports in Russia in terms of air passenger traffic.

The airport provides services for both domestic and international flights. Check-in for flights starts at least two hours before the scheduled departure time and ends in 40 minutes. Registration for international flights opens half an hour earlier than for domestic flights.
45 domestic and foreign air carriers make regular passenger flights to the airport of Yekaterinburg. Among these airlines there are those that are members of the international alliances SkyTeam, OneWorld, StarAlliance. As part of the summer and winter schedule, charter flights also appear. How to get to the airport in Yekaterinburg

From Yekaterinburg to the airport daily runs bus number 1, as well as minibuses 26 and 39.
By private car you can drive along the Novokoltsovsky highway. The length of the route will be 11 km from the city of Yekaterinburg. Near the airport there is paid parking, it is designed for 460 cars.
