Modern TAGTOiB them. M. Jalil was discovered in the 30s of the 20th century. Today, his repertoire includes operas and ballets. The theater is also the organizer of two festivals of international level.
Theater History
The Opera House (Kazan) has deep roots. Back in the 19th century, a hall was equipped for visiting guests, which accommodated 400 spectators. In 1803, a theater building was built, which after 40 years was destroyed by fire. In its place today is the modern TAGTOiB.
The first own troupe appeared in the city in 1874. Her first performance is Mikhail Glinka's opera Life for the Tsar. In the same year, the theater building burned down. In 1875 it was restored. But in 1919 it burned down again. Only in 1934 was the opera and ballet theater created. The building for him was built on the spot burnt down in 1936. The project was developed by the Moscow architect Skvortsov.
In 1939, a new opera house (Kazan) was inaugurated. His address is Freedom Square, 2.
But the construction was not completed, it continued until 1956. The war caused the construction of the building to drag on for so long.
When the construction was finally completed and the theater was opened (in 1956), it was immediately given the name of the famous Tatar poet Musa Jalil. And in 1988 - the status of the academic.
From 1981 to the present, the director of the theater is Raufal Mukhametzyanov. He was the first in Russia to introduce a new artistic and administrative model close to the European one, and a contract system.
Kazan Theater is one of the largest in Russia. The basis of his repertoire is composed of classical productions of Russian and foreign composers, as well as Tatar works.
The theater is unique in that it abandoned the wording "chief director". "choreographer" and so on. Such a system allows us to avoid clashes and conflicts on the basis of ambition and competition.
Since 1994, the theater has been touring Europe every year. Each season lasts from September to July. In February and May, the theater holds international festivals - for opera soloists and for ballet dancers.
