Reviews on the performance of the BDT "Drunken" come mainly positive. And this is not surprising. This is one of the most outstanding works of this theater in recent years, awarded a large number of awards and prizes. In the BDT poster, the production is still listed. For example, in the near future you can get on it at the end of December.

The performance was awarded the prestigious Golden Mask National Theater Award in 2016 in the nomination for "Best Director's Work", and also received a special jury prize for the brightest acting ensemble. In the same year he became a laureate of the prize of the St. Petersburg Society of Spectators "Theater".

The director was the artistic director of the Bolshoi Drama Theater Andrei Moguchy. The creators note that this is a story that the main thing in life is to learn not to be afraid to live, and also to be able to forgive others and change the world around you. This performance is best described as a philosophical comedy about the knowledge of truth. The epigraph was a poem by Omar Khayyam that the essence is not visible to anyone.

Andrei Moguchy himself noted that this is not a domestic play. It corresponds to Sufi symbolism, tells about the seekers of truth, for whom wine is a stream of divine revelations. Vyrypaev said that when he wrote this play, it immediately seemed to him that he had obtained something meaningful in drama. A new stage in creativity has opened.

Plot

The main characters of the play are four groups of characters. Spectators find them in the midst of a hard alcohol fume. Among them: the director of the film festival, a girl, a supermodel, bankers, office managers, prostitutes. By the second action, they gradually sober up, meet each other, starting to form new combinations, many experience real spiritual insights.

At the very beginning of the performance, viewers see a dance episode. This is a vivid dance melodrama stylized as Broadway musicals. At the same time, no sound is heard at all, but at the same time the dancers start dancing in a frenzy, and the male corps de ballet is dancing on the verge of madness.

The viewer can only guess that shortly before this, a certain dramatic event occurred behind the scene. Moreover, each scene has its own. But it is precisely this that is the reason that they all get together and get drunk. So, the director of a film festival finds out that he has cancer. The banker, drunk on the anniversary of the death of his mother, admits to a friend that he slept with his wife. And the supermodel arranges a large-scale drinking party on the occasion of the marriage of her ex to her best friend.

The plot of the play “Drunk” is difficult to describe, while great importance is given to this set of scenography. On the stage, we see a ramp that is inclined, on the sides it is limited by metal structures and foam rubber. All this corresponds to the state in which the drunken heroes are. They constantly fall, rise and hang on top of each other. Moreover, in the play, all the characters are maximally individualized with their own special degrees of intoxication, stages and shades of drunken fumes.

Drunk Carl makes himself and his friend Gustav into gods. Karl has a cunning eye, with which he observes the girl in the second act, cuddles with her, but constantly looks at Laura. So the test of feelings and the strength of the relationship is arranged.

One of the most striking is the bachelor party scene of office managers. Expectedly, prostitutes come to him who take their place in the very center of the table. The most sober in this company is the prostitute Rosa, who calmly sits and quotes replicas from Iranian art house cinema.
