Many service and sales systems have now shifted to the virtual realm. Today, for example, you can buy a train or air ticket to anywhere in the world in a few minutes, without even leaving home! The mysterious itinerary receipt of the electronic ticket will confirm the purchase certificate. What functions does it carry? Is it a substitute for a regular ticket? What does it indicate? We will analyze these and other questions in the article.
Route receipt - what is it?
In fact, everything is very simple. The itinerary receipt is a document that confirms your purchase of an electronic ticket. It is by no means a substitute for a regular ticket! However, this is a valuable reminder for the passenger: it contains information about him, the time of departure of the route, the name of the flight, baggage, included additional services and so on.
Usually, after you have completed the procedure for paying for a ticket, the railway or the airline sends it to your previously indicated mailing address - the itinerary receipt of the electronic ticket. In the English version, the title of the document will sound like an itinerary receipt. An option such as a route-receipt is also allowed.
Key information in the document
Depending on the company where you made the purchase, the information in the document will be different, as well as its design. However, it invariably includes the following:
- F. I. O. passenger.
- Information about the past payment.
- Comprehensive flight information.
- Information about additional services.
- Some important rules of flight, travel.
What is it for?
"What to do with the itinerary receipt?" - This is an important question. It is not necessary to have it with you when you arrive at the station / airport. Check-in is carried out according to the passport, the “foreigner” and other documents. But its value is not only in guiding you along the route. Let's look at cases where the benefits of this document are difficult to overestimate:
- If the waiting room has too strict security, you can confirm with a document that you are in the room for a reason, and expect your flight.
- Often, itinerary receipt is the basis for obtaining a visa. If you present such a document for a return flight, then confirm that you are not going to stay in another country for a long time, which can significantly facilitate the procedure.
- A document is also important when submitting accounting documents to the accounting department at your place of work in the event of a business trip. You need to fill out a standard report form for her, do not forget to attach a boarding pass, and then calmly wait for payments. However, if the route-receipt is in a foreign language, then a translation certified by a notary will be required.

If for some reason you have lost this document, it does not matter - you can print as many copies as you like from a letter from the airline. For registration and boarding, we note once again that its presence is not required - the boarding pass is issued to the passenger according to his passport.
How does she look
Having printed the itinerary receipt (by default it is placed on a sheet of A4 format), you will see a document in front of you with the following columns and sections:
- Your ticket number.
- Room and possibly reservation date.
- Information about you: F.I.O., date of birth, passport number, citizenship, etc.
- Flight number, location, baggage information, additional services.
- Date, time of departure, city, name of airport of departure.
- Time and date of arrival, settlement, name of airport of arrival.
- Confirmation of successful payment.
If you have booked a certain place in the cabin for an additional fee, paid for baggage, additional hand luggage, animals, all these data should also be reflected in the itinerary ticket receipt.
Tax, tariff and fees
The itinerary receipt is an understandable and fairly easy to understand document, especially if it is written in Russian. However, there is still a section in it that raises questions for passengers - this is paying for a ticket. So, for example, you have made one amount, and, say, the Aeroflot route receipt contains completely different numbers. What is the matter?
Let's look at what amounts can be indicated here and what they mean:
- Tariff - the full price of the ticket should be registered here. It is on this basis that you will be charged fines, fees for exchanging or refunding, if there is such an opportunity.
- Fee - this box contains taxes and fees levied by airlines on passengers. The most popular is the fuel surcharge. Note that only part of them you can get back in case of ticket refund. Most of them are fixed amounts, which, alas, cannot be returned if plans are canceled.
- Fees - this includes fees for various additional services: insurance, large baggage, seat selection and so on.
And if a mistake?
So, imagine the situation. The passenger filled in all the data on the online form, paid for the train or airline ticket. He receives an itinerary-receipt by e-mail, upon familiarization with which he annoyingly notes that somewhere he still managed to make a mistake - in his last name, first name, number of the document. What to do?
If the ticket was purchased for a domestic, Russian flight, then there will be less problems. With the wrong last name, you will still be given a boarding pass. Nevertheless, it is worth consulting about this in the company itself. But if the flight is international, then due to discrepancies in data you may well be prevented from flying.
In both cases, we recommend that you do not panic and contact the airline’s specialists as soon as possible to help solve the problem.
So, we found out that the itinerary receipt is not an air ticket or a boarding pass. With it alone you will not be put on a plane or train - you must necessarily present the required documents. However, the route-receipt is not only a useful memo, but also a multifunctional document that can help even in obtaining a visa.
