A PowerPoint presentation is a great addition to a story about something. But making a good presentation without using all the features of the program is difficult. One of them is musical accompaniment. Read about how to make a presentation with music.
Insert music in PowerPoint 2003
This version of the program is almost never used, unlike Word and Excel from the same Microsoft Office suite. But it’s impossible not to mention how to make a presentation with music and photos in it.
Adding an audio file in this version comes down to the following algorithm.
- Select the "Insert" section among the bookmarks.
- In the drop-down list, go to “Movies and Sound” / “Sound from File”. An icon with a speaker image will appear on the slide sheet.
- In the window that appears, click on the "Automatically" button. This will allow the program to play sound in the first moments of the appearance of the slide on the screen.
It's so easy to make a presentation with music in PowerPoint 2003.
Insert music in PowerPoint 2007
Adding music in this version of the program is a little easier than in PowerPoint 2003. The actions will be as follows.
- In the "Insert" tab, click in the last block the button that says "Sound."
- In the pop-up menu, select “Sound from file” or “Sound from clip organizer”. The latter allows you to use the audio built into PowerPoint and what is located on Microsoft servers.
In this version of the program it is even easier to make a presentation with music on the computer.
Note. In this and the previous version of Microsoft PowerPoint, the music file is not added to the presentation file (the exception is the sound from the clip collection), but only a link to it.
The source of the problem is the absolute (full) address in the file link. Even changing the case of letters in the folder name (“New Folder” and “New Folder”) will make the presentation inoperative.
Therefore, you must first create a folder in the root of the hard drive: C: \\ or D: \\. The second option can be used if it is known for certain that there is a section with such a letter on the demonstration computer.
This will create a universal path to audio or video files. Then, create a presentation file in it using RMB “Create” / “Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation”. Or save an empty presentation from the program into it. After that, all the music or video that will need to be inserted is added to the folder.
To transfer the presentation to another PC, you need to copy this folder to the media. After that, it is transferred to the system partition of the hard drive of the demo PC and the operability of all elements is checked.
If it does not work, then you need to re-insert the music and adjust the playback order. But usually when using this method this is not necessary.
How to make a presentation with music in PowerPoint 2010
Adding and configuring audio in this edition of the program is almost no different from the previous one. The insertion method is identical, and the parameter panel is called up from the Animation tab using the Animation Area button.
But there is one important difference. Starting with this version, all third-party audio and video files are embedded in the presentation in the same way as in versions 2003 and 2007. Therefore, you do not need to worry anymore that part of the presentation suddenly does not work on another computer.
Insert music in PowerPoint 2013 and 2016
In these versions, the procedure for adding music has changed slightly along with the interface. It is done as follows: in the "Insert" tab, click on the button labeled "Sound" and select "Audio files on computer" from the drop-down menu.
Configuring playback of the inserted audio file
This process is different for each version of PowerPoint. In the 2003 build program, this is done as follows:
- Click on the PCM audio plug-in icon and select "Animation Settings" in the context menu.
- In the additional panel that appears on the right, select the line with the file name and click in its right part to call up the submenu with the commands. Select "Effect Parameters" in it.
- In the first tab, the beginning and end of the file playback is configured.
- In the second tab, the moment the playback starts and whether to repeat it.
- The third tab adjusts the sound volume. There you can put a check mark next to "Hide the sound icon ...". As the name implies, it removes the icon of the inserted audio during a full-screen display.
In the 2007 version, the playback of the inserted file is configured using the “Settings” tab or using the options panel as in PowerPoint 2003. To call up the latter, in the “Animation” tab in the second block, click on the “Animation Settings” button.
To make music on all slides in a 2007 PowerPoint presentation, you need to select the “For all slides” sub-item in the drop-down list next to the “Play sound” line in the “Settings” tab.
Setting up playback in 2010 is no different from PowerPoint 2007.
The tuning of music in the editions of 2013 and 2016 differs from the previous ones in the modernization of the interface. Therefore, only part of the parameters are configured in the "Playback" tab. It is in it that there are parameters that allow you to make the music play the entire presentation, as intended. There are also a volume control and a checkmark to hide the speaker icon.
Other parameters are in the “Sound: playback” window. It is called in the same way as in the 2007 or 2010 version.
Insert sounds when switching slides in PowerPoint 2007–2016
In addition to inserting your own music, in this program there is the ability to add sound effects that play when the slide is switched. This is done using the tab "Animation", block "Go to this slide." In its right part near the line “Transition Sound” there is a drop-down list. It has about 20 different sounds.
If you select one item from this list, it will be played only on the slide on which it was added. To place it on the remaining sheets, you need to click on the button that says "Apply to all."
Microsoft PowerPoint has a beautiful and intuitive interface. Therefore, you can make a presentation with music, as required, in a few clicks of the mouse.
