"Bezhin meadow"
This work opens the entire cycle of stories, and, consequently, the summary of Turgenev's Notes of the Hunter. On a hot July day, the narrator got lost in the middle of the forest. After dark, he managed to go to the night pasture, where he asked to spend the night next to five shepherd children: Feday, Ilyusha, Pavlushi, Vanya and Kostya. Sitting at the fire, each of the boys told his story related to a meeting with one or another fabulous creature. Fedya tells us that one day, spending the night in a factory, he met a real brownie. Kostya tells the story of the carpenter Gavrila, who met a mermaid. The Lord thought the carpenter to cross himself, the mermaid burst into tears and disappeared. However, in the end, she wished that Gavrila always walked sad. Ilyusha talked about how the kennel Yermil found a white lamb on the grave of a drowned man who, after dark, bared his teeth and began to speak with him in a human voice. Then the boys talked about the fact that if you sit on the porch of the church on
parental Saturday , you can see the dead man or one of those who will soon go to the forefathers. At that moment Pavlusha returned and said that the matter was bad: he was called a brownie. And Fedya added that Paul was already called by the deceased Vasyatka. The hunter fell asleep. When he woke up in the morning, all the boys were sleeping. Only Pavlush woke up and looked intently at the night guest. He silently threw him and went along the river. Unfortunately, there was no Pavlushi in the same year: the boy fell off his horse and killed himself.
"Pole and Kalynich"

This, in fact, is an acquaintance with two completely opposite characters, who, nevertheless, managed to find a common language and make friends. The teller appears before the narrator - not a dreamy, calculating person who sees through their common with the gentleman Kalinych - Polutykin, who knows how to hide his thoughts, to cunning, if necessary. Kalinych is his exact opposite: it is important for him to maintain contact with nature, this is a dreamy, trusting person, not very well versed in people. Kalinych was well acquainted with the secrets of nature: he managed to utter a fright and stop the blood. Pole, more practical and closer "to society, to people", did not possess these skills. Nevertheless, Horus was attached to Kalinich and patronized him, as he felt more wise. In turn, Kalinych loved and respected his friend.
"Yermolai and the mill"
Summary of “Notes of the Hunter” by Turgenev leads us further. The narrator introduces us to Yermolai - a strange person, carefree, rather talkative, seemingly absent-minded and awkward. Nevertheless, Yermolai had a great flair in terms of hunting and fishing. Going on an evening hunt for woodcock, the heroes decided to spend the night at a nearby mill. The miller’s wife Arina allowed them to spend the night under an open canopy and brought them some food for dinner. It turned out that the storyteller was familiar with her former master, Mr. Zverkov (Arina was once a maid of his wife). Many years ago, Arina asked the master for permission to marry the footman Petrushka. Barin and his wife were offended by such a request, but because they sent the girl to the village, and Petrushka was sent to the soldiers. Later, Arina became engaged to the miller, who bought it.
"County doctor"
Another interesting, albeit very simple story, which should be included in the summary of Turgenev's Notes of the Hunter. One fall, during his wanderings, the narrator fell ill. He stops at a hotel in a county town. Trifon Ivanovich is brought to him - a county doctor who prescribes medicine to a hero and shares his story. Once, the doctors called the impoverished widow to the house - in the note, the hostess said that her daughter was near death and asked the doctor to come as soon as possible. Arriving at the widow's house, Trifon Ivanovich began to provide all possible assistance to the patient Alexandra Andreyevna, who was suffering from a fever. For several days, the doctor takes care of the patient and begins to experience a "strong disposition towards her." However, in spite of all his efforts, Alexandra did not recover. One night, sensing that the end was near, the girl confessed her love to Trifon Ivanovich. After 3 days, Alexandra Andreevna died. After this story, the doctor himself took Akulina as a wife - a merchant's daughter, who was notorious, but had as many as seven thousand dowries.
Burmister
How many amazing, diverse and not similar characters were portrayed by I. Turgenev! The collection “Notes of the hunter” can be called one of the best achievements of the writer. The hero of this story is Arkady Pavlovich Penochkin. Penochkin is considered one of the most educated people in the district, one of the most enviable suitors. His house was built according to the plan of an architect from France, he writes French books (although he hardly reads them), his people are dressed in English fashion. The author does not treat Penochkin very well, but somehow is forced to stay with the nobleman for the night. The next morning they both set off for the village of Penochkina - Shipilovka, and stay at the house of Sofron Yakovlevich, a local burmistra. Penochkin asks him about business affairs, and the barmister tells us that everything is going as well as possible - thanks to the wise orders of the master, of course. Having traveled around the estate, the heroes see that exceptional order reigns everywhere. However, leaving the barn after a hunt, the heroes see two men - one young and the other older. They are on their knees and complain that they are tortured to the limit by a burmist. Sofron had already taken the two sons of the old man into recruits, and now he wants to take away the third. He took the last cow from the yard, and completely beat his wife. Guys claim that the burmister ruins not only them. But Penochkin does not even want to listen to them. A few hours later, in Ryabov, the narrator talked to Anpadist, a local acquaintance of the peasant. The narrator begins to question his old acquaintance about Shipilov peasants. In response, he hears that the village only officially belongs to Penochkin, and Sofron owns it as his own personal good and does whatever he pleases. The peasants are forced to work like laborers, tirelessly, and Sofron profits from their work. But the men do not see the point to complain to Barin: Penochkin doesn’t care, as long as there are no arrears.
Of course, these stories are far from all the works from the cycle. However, having familiarized yourself with the brief content of some creations, you can see how versatile and unusual Ivan Turgenev came up with the image of the life of ordinary people . “Notes of a hunter” is a series of stories that can rightfully be considered one of the most worthy and remarkable in the entire history of Russian literature.
