About the theater

Nizhny Novgorod Theater of Young Spectators

In the early years, the repertoire consisted of classical plays. The collective did not have their own premises, so rehearsals and performances took place on the stage of the drama theater. By the 10th anniversary of the theater received its first building.

During the war years, many actors went to the front. The remaining artists performed in hospitals and military units as part of the front-line brigades. In the postwar years, the Nizhny Novgorod Youth Theater actively participated in festivals and became known far beyond the region.

In the 70s of the twentieth century, the theater entered the top five of the Youth Theater of the Soviet Union. By the 50th anniversary of the theater received the award - the Order of the Badge of Honor and the new building, which is to this day.

In the late 80s, a second stage was opened in the Youth Theater - Malaya. Here, the audience and actors are very close to each other and can look into each other's eyes. Performances in such a space are perceived differently. The impact of actors on the audience increases many times.

Today, the theater hosts performances created according to Russian and foreign classics, as well as fairy tales and modern plays.

Viewers reviews

Auditorium

Reviews about the Nizhny Novgorod Youth Theater are positive. Many write that they have been fans of this theater since childhood, now they go here for adult productions and already lead their daughters and sons to watch fairy tales.

All celebrate the wonderful play of the actors. The audience responds very well to the performances themselves. In their opinion, it is difficult to find an unsuccessful performance in the repertoire of the Youth Theater. Most of all, the audience praises the performances: “Vassa”, “Bremen Town Musicians”, “The Flying Ship”, “The Roof is Riding, the House is Standing”.

Among the advantages, visitors also note the polite staff and a comfortable hall, which is arranged in such a way that from anywhere, everything that happens on the stage is clearly visible.

Minus viewers see only that the building is old, does not look very presentable, and for many years its interior has not changed.
