Historical reference
Myachkovo is an airfield with a rich history. It was opened back in 1941 and had the status of a special airfield. A flight squad based on research on the Antarctic and the Arctic was based here.
Since 1965, it is an airport with a staff of almost four thousand people. Four flight squads with different specializations are based here: aerial photography, oil and gas exploration, aerial work in the territory of many regions of the Soviet Union.
In 1993, the Myachkovo airdrome was privatized and managed by the Myachkovo Aviation Services OJSC. It hosts an aerial photography squad; the staff is 137 people.
In 2004, the airfield changes its owner, and closes after an accident that happened this summer with a rare airplane, which killed 4 people, destroyed 3 houses in a nearby village. This accident was followed by the following, but with the participation of a modern flying ship.
After the events, work begins on the reconstruction of the aerodrome infrastructure. Over the years, while the Myachkovo airfield was closed for flights, the race drivers chose the place. To this day, a racing circuit is based here.
Since 2009, the airfield has been working again, actively developing.
Currently, it is the largest base of private aviation, there are two aviation clubs. In addition to private jets, a flying detachment of the Ministry of Emergencies, the Condor Training Center, and the civil aviation airline Chelavia are also based in Myachkovo.
