The appearance of the 400 Bad Request error when trying to enter some website is a very common phenomenon. The reasons for the appearance of this failure can be called quite a lot. But the correction of the problem implies several solutions, the application of which will depend solely on the root cause of the situation. Consider all the possible options.
Error 400 http request: causes
As is already clear, it will be necessary to choose a method for eliminating the problem only after identifying the causes of this phenomenon. It's not even the browser. To get started, try just translating the English language message. It literally means "bad request." In other words, it refers to a resource that does not exist.
This is the most common carelessness of a user who incorrectly entered the site address or entered the end of a domain name (for example, access to the Mail.ru site will be denied when entering Mail.ru.com request or something similar). This is the most common problem.
But, basically, among all that the 400 error code may indicate, the following root causes should be highlighted:
- Incorrect URL entry
- litter of browsers with temporary files;
- blocking access from antivirus and firewall;
- viral exposure;
- problems on the server being accessed.
How to fix error 400 in the simplest way
Let's start with the last paragraph. The fact is that if the problem is really related to the remote server, there is nothing left to do but wait until you try to retry the access attempt again.
But Windows systems themselves are far from flawless (everyone knows this). The appearance of error 400 may be due to short-term crashes and malfunctions in the OS, which do not cause critical consequences for the system as a whole, but provoke the inability to access some Internet resources.
In this case, before taking additional measures, it is recommended that you simply restart the computer or laptop and try to access the site again. It is possible that this approach will work. But relying solely on such a technique is not worth it (these are isolated cases).
If the message contains a link to Nginx, you can safely say that this is really a problem related to the operation of a server running UNIX systems. There is nothing to be done. Perhaps the server will be restored after some time, so you just have to wait.
Clearing temporary files and cookies
The main situation, when a link to the 400 error appears in the browser instead of the page being opened, is considered to be the presence of too many temporary objects in the browser.
As already clear, in this case, the problem can be eliminated quite simply. To do this, in any browser, the history cleaning items or something similar are used, where the checkboxes next to the cleaning lines for temporary files, Cookies and the browser cache are mandatory. Upon completion of such actions, it is recommended not only to restart the browser, but also to perform a complete restart of the entire system.
Release lock on safety side
Another fairly common problem associated with the appearance of error 400 is access blocking at the level of antivirus software and built-in security features of the operating systems themselves (firewall and Defender).
First of all, you need to suspend anti-virus protection, say, for about ten minutes and check the accessibility. At least this problem is observed with Avast antivirus tools. If access is restored, either add the desired site to the list of exceptions, or simply change the standard antivirus to another program.
As for the firewall, it can also provoke an error 400. It should be disabled, although the system does not recommend this. You can still try. In case of restoration of access to the resource, the firewall can be left disabled or the used web browser can be added to the list of exceptions.
Virus scan
As already clear, with viruses it is not so simple. A stick, as they say, about two ends. On the one hand, antiviruses can block access, on the other hand, malicious codes themselves can also perform similar actions.
In this case, it is necessary to perform an in-depth scan of the computer, using portable scanners for this. It will not be superfluous to check for the presence of advertising malware in the system. In the first case, you can use programs like Dr. Web CureIt or apply utilities like Rescue Disk with a full scan of the computer even before starting the operating system when booting from removable media with the program. In the second case, the AdwCleaner application is good.
A few words in the end
As already seen from the material presented, the main problem of the appearance of error 400 is associated with garbage located in the browser. If cleaning it with the built-in browser tools does not work, you can use special optimizer programs like CCleaner, Advanced SystemCare, or the like. Such software packages contain cleaning modules (and even the system cache), you can find them in the privacy cleaning section.
But practically in any application there is a special button for quick optimization, and for its implementation you only need to mark the necessary items, which will be used for verification, after which the entire system will be cleaned and accelerated.
Finally, if none of the solutions suggested above help, just try changing the default browser used for Internet surfing, or make a complete reset.
