After the new, 27th version of the most popular browser of this company was released, a microphone icon appeared on its main page. From that moment, the voice search of Chrome became a reality for all of our compatriots, since the developers taught him to understand requests in Russian.
Earlier, since September 2010, such an opportunity was available only to English-speaking owners of iOS smartphones and Android devices. Moreover, this function was rather limited and worked only with keywords. Now you can use the spoken language and pronounce whole phrases. How to enable voice search in Google
If until now you are still using standard Internet Explorer, it's time to enjoy the simplicity, speed and convenience of Chrom. Before downloading this application, make sure that its version is not lower than 27, and if it turns out that the PC has an older version, you can simply update it to the latest one. For older versions, support for this function is not and is not planned, and in future it will be further improved.
Users who prefer the Mac or Linux operating system can also experience the benefits of the new browser if they wish. A sign that everything went well and the Chrome voice search is installed is the microphone icon on the right side of the search bar. This is the so-called "voice serch." To activate this function, you need to give the site permission to use a microphone in the window that appears, click on the icon and pronounce the keywords.
How safe is it
Those who care about the safety of confidential information are in a hurry to immediately dispel all fears. Chrome will remember permission to use voice search only for those sites that were opened through a secure protocol (they have an HTTPS prefix in the address bar). In order for the search engine page to always come off in safe mode, the user just needs to log in to a personal Google account. By the way, this is also a very useful thing with many convenient functions, such as mail, calendar, network drive, maps, etc.
Further perspectives
The developers promise that the voice search for Google Chrome will be constantly improved. In particular, they promise that already in 2013 the need to use the microphone icon will disappear - the function will be activated through the Okay Google command. A more complete support by the Russian language functionality is also expected - at the moment, voice search for Chrome on Google Maps is not yet available to our compatriots. Well, of course, let's hope that the quality of speech recognition, which differs from the one spoken by the British and Americans, will constantly improve.
