Today offset hooks are used in the installation of equipment with silicone baits. They are practical and comfortable. These hooks are intended for fishing on the spinning of predatory freshwater and marine fish. Most often they are used in overgrown ponds, snags and in cluttered places.
Offset hooks: size and shape
This is a fairly large hook that features a specific z-shaped bend. This form not only guarantees a reliable and durable fastening of the fish, but also does not allow it to slide. Another important hook parameter is its size. It is selected for the dimensions of the bait. When buying an offset, you need to focus on such parameters as:
- height and length of the bait;
- type of bait.
Firstly, offset hooks should be of such a length so as not to impede the play of the vibration tails or twisters during posting. This is important: an offset that is too long will make the bait βwoodenβ, and besides, it can stretch it very much. If a small hook is installed, this will practically not affect the game of either twisters or vibro-tails. But still it is better to find the best option for the ratio. To ideally pick up a hook and a bait, it is better to buy them together. Secondly, the height of the gear. It is crucial when fishing on silicone baits. If it is more than the thickness of the vibrotail, then the sting will have to be brought out. In this case, a non-catching bait will not work. In such situations, soft silicones with a special slot in the body are used. It is needed in order to facilitate the process of threading the hook. This furrow serves as a pocket in which the sting is hidden. So the bait will easily slide among aquatic vegetation and snags, without catching on them. This is useful when wiring is carried out in difficult conditions, such as near tolyak and in cluttered places.
How to equip an offset hook?
Thinking through the offset is not so easy. But the quality of the bait game during posting depends on this. So how to put on a hook? The soft bait is taken. The sting is threaded through the front of the twister by 0.8 - 1 cm. The hook must pass through the silicone to the ear. After that, we attach it to the body and roughly outline the puncture site. Then we bring the sting out. If the bait has a clearly marked back, then it should go from the side of the abdomen of an artificial fish. Of course, this is not the only way to thread the hook. But it can be safely called classic. Such equipment is very strong and reliable. At the same time, the quality of the bait game in water does not suffer.
Do you need a sinker when equipping an offset hook?
There is no consensus. Perhaps that is why there are as many as three options for equipping an offset. The first method does not imply the use of any sinkers. The bait is attached immediately to the leash. The second, or hinged equipment, is carried out with a sinker, best of all - equipped with special ears. There are many variations of this method. The third option is the method when the offset hooks are at a certain distance from the sinker. This allows the bait to play freely in the water. All three methods have their advantages and disadvantages. The fisherman can choose the best option for himself. In general, offset hook fishing is always more practical and productive.
