A performance is a work that relates to theatrical art. It is based on a dramatic or theatrical-stage plot. In its development take part: director, actors, artist and composer. The word performance comes from the Latin spectaculum, which means a sight.
Theater art
The theater is translated from Greek as a place for spectacles. This is a direction of art where through the actions of actors on the stage, the emotions, feelings and thoughts of the author of the production are transmitted to the audience.
Theater Varieties
There are such varieties of theater:
- Ballet is a type of stage mastery where dance and music are inextricably linked. It may be based on a work of art or music, but there are also plotless productions.
- Puppet show. The actors here are puppets controlled by people. The productions are based on fairy tales. A puppet show is a great entertainment for children.
- Musical or musical comedy. Here songs, music, dialogues, dances are tightly intertwined. The script of the play is usually straightforward.
- Opera. It has an artistic and dramatic form. In such a performance, singing predominates.
- An operetta is almost the same as an opera. It has a comic plot and has a popular light character.
- Pantomime is a stage performance without words. The plot or story is conveyed using facial expressions and gestures.
- The drama of the absurd. The plot is based on a pile of facts, incoherent acts, emotions, fates and words.
- Street theater. His actions take place in the open. A street performance is a production in which actors play without a scene.

Performance genres
Theatrical productions (performances) are divided into the following genres:
- Vaudeville is a comedy with dances and songs.
- Drama is a production, the plot of which is built on the life of a real person. At the core is the conflict between the main character and society.
- Comedy is the flip side of drama. It is called upon to ridicule the problem between individual people or a person and society.
- Mime is a humorous performance genre. It consists of small scenes of entertainment.
- Mystery is an echo of a medieval religious theater. Performances were shown in the main square. They alternated with sideshow and religious scenes.
- A melodramadramatic performance is a performance with acute conflict and intrigue.
- Monodrama. Only one actor plays here. Same as drama.
- Morality is a performance of an edifying character. A sharp contrast between virtues and vices.
Theater Studio
Theater Studio is a non-profit amateur project. They usually appear in small towns. Where there is no professional theater. Theater studios often appear at schools and universities. There are commercial theater studios for adults. Here people are taught to be more liberated, put voice and speech.
One of the most famous theater studios was the drama club of Stanislavsky. After a while, he grew into the Moscow Art Theater. The performance of the theater studio of such a great actor and director was in no way inferior to professional productions.
