Some users of social networks and instant messengers sometimes need to delete their account. This article describes how to permanently delete an account in ICQ. The reasons can be completely different, ranging from the unnecessary profile of not using it, ending with some kind of personal problems.
What is ICQ
The Icq.com service is an instant messaging system that enables users to send information to each other.
Also in ICQ you can share videos, audio files, pictures and so on. The service is distributed on the most popular platforms, such as Windows, Android or iOS.
It was created on November 15, 1996 by high school students from Tel Aviv. The advantage of this messenger was that it can be downloaded for free (which was a novelty at the time of the 90s). Since then, ICQ has come a long way.
Account deletion was available until 2002. The reasons for the withdrawal of this function are still not known for certain. One of the most popular versions is that in this way the creators of ICQ wanted to artificially increase the number of users at the expense of accounts that have been active for a long time and are no longer in use.
How to delete an account in ICQ
The account deletion feature has been removed since 2002. Recently, however, it has again become available to users. Before you start the uninstall procedure, you should know that this cannot be done from the application itself. Such an opportunity is available only through the ICQ website. So, in order to delete an account in ICQ, you need:
1) Go to the address through which you can delete ICQ. At this link: http://www.icq.com/delete-account/.
2) Log in to your account. This can be done either through a phone number, or using an email address.
3) Enter the password for your account.
4) To save your profile from intruders, a special SMS code will be sent to your phone number, which will need to be entered in the column that appears on the site.
4) Click on the yellow "Delete account" button, thereby confirming the action.
Deleting a profile is an irreversible process. And although the user information is still stored in the ICQ database for some time, it will be impossible to restore it.
Uninstall application
Having learned how to delete an account in ICQ and following the instructions above, you can only delete the profile. However, the process of uninstalling ICQ itself is not yet completed. For a full exit, you need to remove applications from your computer or mobile. To remove the application from the phone, you need to hold down the ICQ shortcut. And then, when the phone selects it, drag it to the trash. The operating system will ask you to confirm the action, after which ICQ will be removed from your phone.
To remove ICQ from a PC, you need a little more time. The procedure is as follows:
1) Open the Start menu.
2) Go to the control panel.
3) We are looking for the section "Programs and components".
4) We find the ICQ messenger there.
5) Right-click and select the "Delete" action.
